Chapter 117 You are a skeleton and you have no sense of taste, so you can’t taste anything!

Chapter 117 You are a skeleton and you have no sense of taste, so you can’t taste anything!

Bai Jin watched the three people leave. The three figures gradually walked away until they disappeared from his sight, leaving him alone. He sighed helplessly and lay back on the bed, his heart full of complaints, blaming the three people for not taking him out to play.

Feeling isolated, Bai Jin tossed and turned in bed, unable to calm his dissatisfaction. Gradually, his eyelids became heavier and heavier, and he slowly fell asleep while complaining.

Day after day, Bai Jin was extremely bored in this lonely space. He stood up from his lying position and unknowingly came to the backyard.

On a whim, he drilled a small hole in the wall facing the street. He then found a stool and sat firmly against the wall, curiously observing the skeletons' daily routines through the small hole. He discovered that their routines were surprisingly regular, like emotionless NPCs, repeating the same movements and behaviors.

Feeling bored, Bai Jin sat there in the silence. A thought flashed through his mind, and he remembered the endless animal meat in the forbidden area.

He could not wait to act, and quickly broke the trees beside him. The trees were easily broken in his hands, making crisp sounds.

He happily planned to use these trees to make a fire and roast meat. Imagining the delicious meat sizzling in the flames, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise slightly.

Bai Jin took out his flint and steel and began diligently trying to strike a fire. His movements were practiced and anxious, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get a fire started. "Strange, what's going on?" Bai Jin frowned, his face filled with confusion. His eyes were filled with confusion, and he held the flint tightly in his hand, examining it repeatedly. He looked at the trees again, wondering if there was something wrong with them. But after careful study, he couldn't find the root of the problem.

In desperation, Bai Jin gave up on these trees. He took out the dead wood he had stored in his space bag. He held a glimmer of hope in his heart, hoping that these dead wood could successfully ignite the flames.

He picked up the flint and steel again and carefully tried to strike a fire. This time, luck seemed to favor him, and the flint and steel finally struck a spark, igniting the dead wood. The flame gradually rose, and the warm light illuminated his face.

Bai Jin quickly set up the meat and began to grill it. He watched intently as the meat slowly changed color over the flames, the fat dripping into the fire, making a sizzling sound. The enticing aroma gradually spread, setting his taste buds alight.

The smell drifted outside, and a group of skeletons started talking among themselves, "Where does the smell of barbecue come from?" The voices were hoarse and hollow, but full of curiosity.

The sound reached Bai Jin's ears, and Bai Jin said while roasting, "I thought they would just walk around." A hint of surprise appeared on Bai Jin's face. He didn't expect that these skeletons would be attracted by the aroma of delicious food.

Just when Bai Jin finished grilling and was about to eat it, a skeleton snatched it away and said, "Okay, you're eating it all by yourself!" Before Bai Jin could react, the barbecue in his hand was taken away.

He looked closely and saw it was Song Yi. Song Yi swallowed the meat and said, "Why is it tasteless?" He was puzzled and continued to take a second bite in disbelief. Song Yi's heart was filled with disappointment. He didn't understand why such a fragrant barbecued meat had no taste.

Bai Jin saw that the meat Song Yi ate fell directly into his body, and he was so angry that he knocked on Song Yi's skull, making a sound like a wooden fish. He became addicted to it.

Su Yan saw the two of them, one knocking on the skull and the other eating a piece of meat after being knocked, and asked Jing Jin: "Are you usually like this?"

The corner of Su Yan's nonexistent mouth twitched, but he didn't dare to count himself in and said, "It's them, not me."

Jing Jin didn't say anything, just looked at Su Yan who was carrying him on his back.

Bai Jin was quick to grab the freshly cooked skewers and devour them ravenously, exclaiming as he ate, "Sure enough! The meat from my hometown is truly the best in the world! It's the most delicious!"

When Song Yi heard Bai Jin's words, he was immediately confused and asked, "Hometown? Huh? When did you have another home?"

Bai Jin was so angry that he raised his hand and knocked Song Yi on the head, shouting, "What do you care how many families I have? You wasted food, and I haven't settled the score with you yet!"

"Aren't I trying it for you? But this meat really has no taste at all." Song Yi's tone carried a hint of grievance, feeling that he just wanted to taste the barbecue out of curiosity.

"You're a skeleton and you have no sense of taste, so you can't taste anything!" Bai Jin retorted mercilessly.

"Hehe, I've been a human for so long that I forgot everything." Song Yi realized that he was now a skeleton and said embarrassedly.

"Tsk..." Bai Jin snorted nonchalantly when he heard Song Yi's words. He slowly took a bite of the meat, and the delicious barbecue spread in his mouth. Bai Jin raised his chin slightly, looked at Song Yi and asked, "You guys have been out for so long? Have you made any progress?"

Song Yi spoke first: "Stop talking. Those skeletons are just like NPCs. They will only be triggered when you ask them relevant words. They will ignore you if you ask them anything else." Song Yi's tone was full of helplessness and frustration.

"We have been observing for many days, but still haven't found any clues about the plot." Su Yan's voice was filled with fatigue and helplessness.

"No clues? How can I pass this level?" Bai Jin was still holding a skewer of barbecue in his hand. The barbecue gave off an enticing aroma, but it couldn't ease the worries in his heart at the moment.

"Maybe it hasn't started yet." Jing Jin's voice was calm and steady.

"It's possible. Otherwise, you have been out for almost a month, so there would be some clues." Bai Jin said with a hint of comfort in his tone.

Bai Jin looked down at the remaining grilled skewers in his hand. He had originally wanted to give them some, but when he realized they couldn't finish them, he withdrew his outstretched hand. While eating, he deliberately boasted, "Barbecue is the most delicious in the world!"

If Su Yan had eyes, he would have rolled his eyes at Bai Jin long ago.

As Su Yan and Jing Jin passed by Bai Jin, Su Yan, out of Jing Jin's sight, slapped Bai Jin on the back of the head. The action was swift and decisive, catching Bai Jin off guard. Bai Jin, who was enjoying his meal, was stunned. He froze for a moment, then wanted to blame Su Yan.

But before he could say anything, Su Yan had already run out of Bai Jin's sight, leading Jing Jin by the hand. Bai Jin was so angry that he stamped his feet and said, "Pretending to be a lady in front of Boss Jing, huh, shameless!"

Although Song Yi couldn't taste the food, he could smell the aroma of barbecue. While Bai Jin wasn't paying attention, he took a skewer of meat and started eating.

After being discovered by Bai Jin, Bai Jin began to hit Song Yi's skull again. "You can't eat it, can you please not waste it!" Bai Jin accused while hitting Song Yi's skull.

"But this smell is so tempting!" Song Yi was hit so hard that he couldn't speak clearly. There was a hint of grievance in his voice.
