Chapter 373 The Fifth Blind Date
Chapter 373 The Fifth Blind Date
The two strode back to Sun Zihong's house, where Sun Zihong had already prepared dinner. Bai Yan and Lu Teng were setting the table and serving the dishes.
Bai Yang took out his treasured wine, a gift from his eldest son-in-law. It was proving useful today.
"We're in a good mood today, let's have a good drink," Bai Yang said with a smile.
Lu Teng's eyes lit up. "Dad, this wine is so rare! You've been keeping it hidden away, and you've finally decided to bring it out today."
Bai Yang laughed heartily, "Well, we have distinguished guests at home, so of course we have to serve them properly."
Everyone sat around the table, and Bai Yang skillfully opened the bottle, instantly filling the air with its aroma.
He first filled a glass for the guest, then poured a glass for Lu Teng, and then poured a full glass for himself.
"Come on, let's all have a toast and wish for a prosperous future," Bai Yang said, raising his glass. Everyone raised their glasses and drank it all in one gulp.
After several rounds of drinks, the atmosphere became increasingly lively. Bai Yang chatted with the guests, sharing interesting stories from their lives.
Lu Teng chimed in, occasionally serving Bai Yan food. Bai Yan watched the lively scene, her heart filled with warmth.
Sun Zihong, all smiles, moved between the kitchen and the dining room, bringing out new dishes every now and then.
The meal was exceptionally enjoyable, filled with the aroma of wine and laughter. Cao Jianwei, who had been waiting in the courtyard, paced back and forth, shivering from the cold.
He would steal glances at Yunya from the doorway every now and then. Her face was flushed, whether from the cold or embarrassment, it was hard to tell.
When they returned, Bai Ye invited him to come in for a meal, but he said he had already eaten and politely declined.
Bai Ye noticed it was a bit cold outside and suggested he wait inside, but he politely declined, saying he could just walk around outside. So, this walk lasted for the duration of a meal.
Fortunately, Yunya eats quickly; she was full in about 20 minutes. Then she sat on the sofa in the living room to watch TV.
Bai Ye and Bai Yan, the siblings, seemed preoccupied, and they ate quite quickly. They finished eating even faster than Yun Ya, in just 15 minutes.
Adults who drink alcohol don't eat regularly, and this meal lasted until after 3 p.m.
Seeing that Yun Ya had finished eating, Bai Yan called her to go out for a walk. This was Cao Jianwei's idea; there were too many people inside, and he felt embarrassed to go inside.
He was also afraid that Yun Ya wouldn't like him, which would be very awkward. That's why he came up with this solution.
He and Bai Ye went out of the courtyard first and waited at the gate for Bai Yan and Yun Ya to arrive. A few minutes later, they appeared before them.
Yun Ya carefully helped Bai Yan to a corner not far from the gate. There they saw Bai Ye and Cao Jianwei chatting and waiting for them.
When Bai Ye saw them approaching, he lowered his head and remained silent, handing the stage over to his older sister, Bai Yan.
Bai Yan introduced them to each other with a smile. Yun Ya didn't dare to look directly at Cao Jianwei, only glancing at him quickly before lowering her head.
Cao Jianwei also seemed very shy, glancing at Yun Ya stealthily one moment and turning away to look to the side the next. Suddenly, he realized that Yun Ya was also looking at him, and his eyes seemed to be scorched by the sunlight. He quickly lowered his head.
Bai Yan was both amused and exasperated by their little antics. She really didn't understand what was so embarrassing about it; they were both adults.
Isn't it normal for a man to marry when he's of age and a woman to marry when she's of age? Seeing how awkward the two of them were, she didn't say much and called her younger brother Bai Ye to go home. She left the rest of the time to those two awkward people.
After the siblings left, Cao Jianwei dared to raise his head and meet Yun Ya's gaze. Yun Ya was in the same situation.
She looked up and her eyes met Cao Jianwei's burning gaze, and her heart felt as if it had been scalded.
Yun Ya's face instantly turned bright red. She gripped the hem of her clothes tightly, and her heart began to pound uncontrollably.
Cao Jianwei noticed this bewildered look and was overjoyed; it seemed there was hope.
He thought to himself, "Yun Ya must have taken a liking to me too," and a smile unconsciously crept up his lips. He felt incredibly pleased with himself.
The awkward atmosphere lasted for five minutes before Cao Jianwei spoke up: "Yunya, I... I think you're a really nice person. I liked you the first time I saw your picture..."
Yun Ya lowered her head even further and whispered, "Thank you."
Cao Jianwei took a deep breath and mustered his courage to say, "Yunya, I want to be your girlfriend and take good care of you in the future."
Yun Ya suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with surprise. She hadn't expected Cao Jianwei to be so direct. For a moment, she didn't know how to respond, her face flushed and her eyes darting away.
Cao Jianwei waited anxiously, his heart pounding in his chest. After a long while, Yun Ya finally said softly, "I...I need to think about it."
Cao Jianwei nodded hurriedly, "Okay, take your time to think it over, I'll wait for you." After saying that, he scratched his head, looking somewhat simple and honest.
The two stood there for a while longer before Yunya said, "I'm going back now."
Cao Jianwei quickly said, "I'll take you."
The two remained silent throughout the journey, but the atmosphere was no longer as awkward as before.
Upon arriving at her doorstep, Yunya softly said "Goodbye" and hurried inside. Cao Jianwei watched her retreating figure, a smile returning to his lips, his heart filled with anticipation.
Yun Ya blushed and hurriedly returned to the house, where she found Bai Yan and told her her thoughts.
Bai Yan thought it made sense when Yun Ya said she needed to think about it. But she also reminded her, "Yun Ya, I think this young man is quite good. He's good-looking and his family is well-off."
He only has one older sister who is already married. He works at a nitrogen fertilizer plant, driving a truck. The salary is high, the benefits are good, and he has pension insurance. You should think it over carefully; this is a lifelong decision, so don't act impulsively.
Yun Ya nodded, "Okay, I'll go home and tell my mom. I can't just leave something this big untold!"
Bai Yan also thought it made sense. "Of course. You can tell your aunt that this young man is an only child, he has no brothers, and all the family property belongs to him."
