Chapter 61 The Storm Is Brewing
Chapter 61 The Storm Is Brewing
The main hall of the Ape Demon Cave.
The Old Dragon of Halloween had never seen the Ape Demon King so angry.
Although this old ape was usually rough and unruly, it was never easily angered. Today, its surging murderous aura clearly indicated that something serious had happened.
Even if that wild Taoist stole his Zhentan Divine Spear, he wasn't this angry. Could it be that that wild Taoist killed the Ape Demon King's parents?
But I've never heard of the Ape Demon King's parents being alive?
He didn't answer the Ape Demon King's question directly, because he himself didn't even know the name of that wild Taoist. Instead, he said in a deep voice, "Brother Ape Demon, what exactly happened? Explain yourself first."
The Ape Demon King's chest heaved violently several times before he managed to squeeze out the words through clenched teeth: "My beloved concubine, Queen Soft Bone, was killed and her cultivation destroyed by that wicked Taoist. Even the life-sustaining spiritual fruit I personally fed her couldn't save her!"
He didn't mention that he had become the Ape Grandpa; if he had, the old dragon would have laughed him to death.
"I will settle this score with interest! Tell me when that scoundrel appeared, what grudge he has against you, from beginning to end, not a single detail can be missed! I will find him and extract his soul!"
The old dragon Wansheng's expression changed slightly. After a moment's thought, he said, "This person had some past grievances with my daughter Wansheng. I'm not entirely clear on the details, so I'd better have her come over and explain. Ao Qing is slow, so I'll have General Shuiwu make a trip to Bibo Pool to bring the princess here."
The water centipede demon that had been standing by had now transformed into a middle-aged man with a sinister appearance. Upon hearing this, he nodded, turned around, and transformed into a streak of light, disappearing from the main hall.
About two and a half hours later, a little demon's voice came from outside the hall, followed by a series of hurried footsteps.
Princess Wansheng, still dressed in a light red silk dress, walked barefoot on the jade steps into the main hall, followed by the water centipede demon.
She had been confined to Bibo Pool for several days and looked somewhat impatient. She gave a perfunctory bow to Wansheng Old Dragon and Ape Demon King, then stood up straight to wait for her questioning.
The Old Dragon of Ten Thousand Saints didn't beat around the bush and went straight to the point: "Tell me from beginning to end how you met that wild Taoist and what happened between you, without omitting anything."
Princess Wansheng frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and then said, "That day, I went for a casual stroll in the Xie Zhi Cave on Qilin Mountain. Just as I was about to leave, I noticed someone spying on me. I discovered that this person could transform into water, but their aura was like a raging fire, so I quickly noticed them. Unfortunately, that person was very cautious and did not confront me directly, but instead used the force of the water to slip away from me."
The old dragon slammed his dragon-headed cane heavily on the ground and said in a deep voice, "Why didn't you mention this at the Azure Wave Pool back then?"
"You didn't even ask," Princess Wansheng retorted without backing down. "The day I returned to the palace, you gave me a severe scolding, locked me up in confinement, and wouldn't allow anyone to visit me. I had no one to talk to, and I had nowhere to confide in."
The old dragon was so choked up that his beard twitched a few times. He wanted to refute but had nothing to say, and his old face turned ashen.
The Ape Demon King had no interest in listening to the father and daughter bickering. He straightened up from his throne and interrupted in a deep voice, "I know about the Xie Zhi Cave. A mountain demon who called himself the Great Sage Who Guards the Mountain occupied that cave before, but was later subdued by someone who appeared out of nowhere. His thousands of lesser demons couldn't have just vanished into thin air. Perhaps that mountain demon knew about the Wild Daoist's background, or perhaps some of the surviving lesser demons had seen the Wild Daoist."
"Hmm... What the Ape Demon King said is correct. We can use this to investigate," Wan Sheng Old Dragon echoed.
"In that case, let's each designate an area and explore separately. If we find any clues, we can share them with each other."
"That's how it should be."
"Someone come here!"
At the Ape Demon King's command, several demon generals immediately appeared from the side of the palace.
The Ape Demon King's gaze swept across the steps below, selecting a mid-stage Transformation Realm green ape spirit and then choosing over ten capable Nascent Soul Realm lesser demons. He said in a deep voice, "Search outwards from the Xie Zhi Cave. Bring back anyone who has seen the Great Sage of the Mountain and his minions. If you discover any trace of that wild path, do not alert him. Report to me immediately. I will personally skin him alive!"
"Centipede Lord, go back and take some people with you. Go together and search separately."
The Old Dragon of Halloween looked at the water centipede demon beside him.
The water centipede demon was at the early stage of the Dao Integration Realm. Logically speaking, he should be on equal footing with the Wansheng Old Dragon. However, he made a mistake by letting Lu Changgeng, who stole the gun, escape. Therefore, he didn't say much and simply clasped his hands in acceptance of the order.
"Father!"
Ao Qing suddenly strode up to the Old Dragon of Ten Thousand Saints, clasped his hands in a salute, and said in a loud voice, "Your son also wishes to go with General Water Centipede! Your son will soon be going to Wuzhuang Temple to become a disciple, and I do not know when I will be able to return. Before that, I would like to do my part for Bibo Pool, and I ask for your permission, Father."
Looking at his son's heroic face, the Old Dragon of Halloween remained silent for a moment before taking out a palm-sized shield from his sleeve and handing it over.
The shield was entirely blue-green, its surface covered with layers upon layers of scales, each scale gleaming with a cold, eerie light.
The Old Dragon of Ten Thousand Saints earnestly instructed, "This is the Ten Thousand Scales Devouring Qi Shield. In case of danger, it can withstand a full-force attack from a Dao Integration Realm cultivator. It should be enough to deal with that Daoist. Remember, if you really discover any trace of that wild Daoist, you must not act rashly. Send a message back immediately."
"I understand." Ao Qing solemnly put away his shield, bowed to Wan Sheng Old Dragon and Ape Demon King, and then turned to catch up with the Water Centipede Demon and his group.
As for Princess Wansheng, before she could speak, the Old Dragon Wansheng glared at her and said, "You're coming back with me! Don't even think about running away!"
Princess Wansheng pouted, feeling wronged, but didn't argue back.
Her father is currently furious. He heard that because of her, the Ape Demon King suffered a great loss, and even his beloved concubine died.
But what does it matter to her whether his beloved concubine lives or dies? He doesn't care whether his dick lives or dies.
-
Two days later, in the evening.
Behind a small village called Aoshan.
An unnamed stream flows quietly by, its surface shimmering like scattered gold in the setting sun.
A figure wearing a straw hat sat on a blue stone half-submerged in water on the shore, holding a green bamboo fishing rod in his hand, the fishing line sinking into the water and creating very fine ripples.
The man appeared to be a burly young farmer, with his trousers rolled up, revealing his two bronze calves submerged in the river. His straw hat was pulled low, obscuring most of his face.
The fishing rod was as steady as a rock, with only the tip undulating slightly with the current, like an old bamboo that had taken root.
As darkness fell, the golden fragments on the river surface slowly faded into gray-silver.
The figure remained motionless, his gaze fixed on the fishing line through the edge of his straw hat.
From the dense forest not far behind them, two gaunt, dark figures silently slipped out.
One was a snake demon with an ugly snake head, its upper body barely resembling a human, and its lower body dragging a grayish-brown snake tail. Its eyes gleamed with a cold, eerie green light.
The other was a leopard demon, with a shriveled body, dull fur, and clearly visible ribs under its ribs. Its eyes were filled with a greed born of hunger.
The two demons lay hidden behind the bushes, greedily staring at the broad back of the figure by the river, drool involuntarily dripping from their mouths.
