Chapter 21 offended
Chapter 21 offended
The crow spirit obeyed the order and transformed into a wisp of black smoke, flying out of the cave.
The mandrill turned to Lu Changgeng, a smile returning to its ugly face: "It's not that I don't believe in Daoist Master, but we are complete strangers, so it's best to be cautious. I'll wait in the cave for a while; you two might as well wait too. That dead bird won't be long."
The crow spirit didn't keep everyone waiting for long.
About an hour later, the sound of flapping wings could be heard from inside the cave.
A plume of black smoke fell back into the hall, revealing the form of a crow spirit. Kneeling at the foot of the steps, it reported in a hoarse voice, "Your Majesty! The spring is indeed on Spider Ridge, surrounded by pine and cypress trees. Wisps of steam rise above the spring; it is truly a natural hot spring. Seven young girls are playing in the water, and a large boar demon is fast asleep by the spring. I saw everything clearly and saw nothing unusual!"
"A young girl? A giant boar demon?"
"The young girl is the junior sister of the Taoist priest Yangquan, and as for the pig demon... that is my husband, Tiegu." Teng Sanniang answered after receiving instructions from Lu Changgeng.
"Oh, right, Ironbone's background is indeed that of a filthy wild boar," the mandrill said dismissively.
Teng San Niang's beautiful eyes flashed, but she dared not make any move.
The mandrill humiliated her husband, making her hold a grudge against him.
The mandrill leaned back against the tiger skin, thoughtfully stroking its chin: "That would be even better. It's better to perform this play for me than for the king. Since there's an audience there, let's perform it for them as well, so that fellow Daoist, junior sister, and Lady Teng's husband can see your performance, hahaha..."
He waved his hand and said, "Guards, bring me my complete set of attire. We're heading to Pansiling!"
Lu Changgeng still had a faint smile on his face: "Your Majesty, I will go ahead and lead the way."
He sneered inwardly, realizing that once he was on his own turf, he wouldn't be in charge of anything anymore, not just some mountain demon.
He quickly made a to-do list in his mind: a transformed mountain demon, several spirit-concentrating demon generals, and a large group of little demons watching the show.
When we get to the Cleansing Spring, we can have it all in one go.
A group of demons walked through the air, heading towards Pansiling in a grand procession.
It wouldn't be entirely accurate to say they were a large and imposing force. The mountain demon brought his elite troops, more than ten demon generals and soldiers, all of whom were experts at the early stage of the Nascent Soul realm or above. Clearly, they were guarding against any tricks Lu Changgeng might pull.
With the Great Sage of the Mountain, a demon in human form, leading the way, they arrived at the Pansiling area where the Cleansing Spring was located in less than half a day.
When the mountain demon caught sight of the steaming spring in the distance, it couldn't help but squint.
It truly is a wonderful place, surrounded by mountains and verdant pines and cypresses. The spring is shrouded in mist like gauze, and the setting sun casts its golden rays upon the entire spring.
Seven girls were playing by the spring when they were startled to see a large group of people descending from the sky. However, they came to greet them after seeing Lu Changgeng and Teng Sanniang.
Tie Gu, who had just woken up, also saw the person who came. He was shocked and thought to himself, "Why did the immortal bring this plague god to my door? This might be bad."
However, he still put on a good show and immediately stepped forward to greet the king: "This humble servant, Tiegu, greets Your Majesty."
The Great Sage Who Guards the Mountain simply nodded, bypassed Iron Bone, and focused his gaze on the Cleansing Spring, walking to the edge of the spring to examine it carefully.
"Good spring." The mandrill nodded in satisfaction, strode to the spring, and tested the water temperature with its paw. "Huh, this spring actually has the aura of true fire. It seems that this place is very suitable for cultivating fire-attribute supernatural powers."
He turned around, grinned at Lu Changgeng, and said, "As expected, Daoist Master, this place is indeed excellent. I'll take it. What do you think?"
Lu Changgeng smiled but didn't say anything.
"Who are you, you ugly monster? Why should I give you what you want?" Zi Ying was very bold. She didn't know who this ugly monster in front of her was, and she blurted out in anger.
"Little sister, shut up!" Chi Xiao glared at her.
"These seven girls are not bad either. Since they are fellow Daoist's junior sisters, let's give them up as well. I happen to need a few close female companions to warm my bed and wash my feet."
Standing beside Lu Changgeng, Teng Sanniang sensed a subtle change in his aura.
Upon hearing the mandrill's words, Lu Changgeng smiled faintly: "This is easily resolved. Did Your Majesty bring the magical artifact and elixir?"
"I naturally carry it with me, but before I lend it to you, you must satisfy me." The mountain demon took the concubine's long dress from the demon general's hands and raised his chin at him: "Daoist, please, let me see how well you are befitting your status as a concubine."
"Your Majesty, please do not be hasty." Lu Changgeng took the long dress, but instead of putting it on, he folded it up and placed it on a stone by the spring.
He raised his head and looked calmly at the mandrill: "Your Majesty has come from afar and must be quite dusty from your journey. Why don't you take a soak first? This spring water is a fine product. Your Majesty, please wash away the dust of your journey before you begin your performance."
The mandrill seemed not to have heard what Lu Changgeng said. Lu Changgeng had asked him to act, so it waved its claws and said, "No need, no need. I'm in a hurry to watch the show. Change it quickly."
"Then I must offend you," Lu Changgeng said, uttering this seemingly random statement.
Then he took a step forward.
At this very step, his foot stepped into the spring water without splashing any water.
The water seemed to catch him, gently lifting him up.
The mandrill's smile froze on its face, and its crimson pupils suddenly contracted.
He sensed an extremely terrifying aura awakening from the spiritual spring beneath his feet.
That's not the aura one should have at the peak of the Condensation Realm. Transformation...transformation...?
No, he definitely didn't transform into human form!
Lu Changgeng's figure gradually lengthened and expanded in the spring water.
Spring water gushed in from all directions, wrapping around his body layer by layer, making him bigger and bigger, and higher and higher.
First, his legs transformed into two thick columns of water, then his waist expanded into a water ball about ten feet in diameter, and finally, his shoulders and above were suddenly pulled up.
A massive head, formed from flowing spring water, slowly rose from the misty vapor, its features vaguely discernible—it was none other than Lu Changgeng.
Three zhang (approximately 10 meters).
Five zhang (approximately 10 meters).
Ten zhang...
He's still growing.
The water level of Zhuogou Spring dropped sharply, and the water veins within a radius of several miles simultaneously poured back into the spring. Countless streams of water gushed out from the mountains, rock crevices, and underground, merging into the ever-rising giant of water.
The giant's entire body was formed from flowing spring water, every drop of which was churning and boiling, every stream of water was roaring and rushing, and its body was shrouded in crimson water vapor, reflecting an eerie feeling in the afterglow of the setting sun.
The mountain demon looked up at the towering water giant, which was tens of feet tall, and for the first time, a look of fear appeared on its thunder god-like face.
"You're not a rogue cultivator?! Who are you?!"
The water giant ignored him and let out a deep roar that shook the entire valley.
Countless water vapors rose from the surface of the Zhuogou Spring, turning into a thick fog that enveloped the surrounding area for miles.
The demon soldiers were horrified to find that they couldn't even tell which way was which. Suddenly, the roaring sound of water and the screams of their comrades came from the white mist rising from the spring.
Lu Changgeng's plan was to first clear out the swarms of enemies to prevent them from taking advantage of the chaos to attack Teng Sanniang and the others, and then focus on dealing with the mountain demon.
The mandrill was, after all, a powerful demon capable of transforming into human form, and its reaction was extremely fast.
He roared, his black scales exploded, and his body swelled to tens of feet tall. The single horn on his head shone brightly with black light, and his murderous aura surged out of his body as if it were a tangible substance, forcing the surrounding water vapor back several feet.
Instead of retreating, it advanced, its enormous claws carrying the black demon, slamming towards the head of the water giant.
Lu Changgeng raised a giant hand made entirely of spring water to meet it.
The claws and the giant hand collided with a loud crash in mid-air.
