Chapter 74 The Battle to Protect the Treasure
Chapter 74: The Battle to Protect the Treasure
Liu Yu clutched the treasure tightly and shouted, "You band of robbers, how dare you rob me in broad daylight!"
The bandit leader laughed loudly: "Enough nonsense, hand over the treasure obediently, and I'll spare your lives!"
Xu Xian was so frightened that he kept backing away: "What should we do?"
Xiaoqing, however, was not afraid at all. She stepped forward and said, "With me here, you won't be able to take it away!"
Seeing this, the bandits swarmed forward. Xiaoqing used her swordsmanship to engage in a fierce battle with the bandits.
Liu Yu anxiously called out from the side, "Xiao Qing, keep going!"
Xiaoqing stabbed and slashed left and right, making the bandits scramble for their hands. But the bandits outnumbered her, and Xiaoqing gradually found herself unable to hold them off.
At this moment, Bai Suzhen also made her move. With a gentle flick of her sleeve, a powerful force knocked several bandits to the ground.
Seeing this, the bandit leader roared, "Attack together!"
Seeing that the situation was not good, Liu Yu thought, "I can't just stand by and watch!" So he picked up a tree branch and rushed towards the robbers.
"Watch me!" Liu Yu shouted, but accidentally stepped on a stone and fell face-first into the mud.
The bandits burst into laughter when they saw his disheveled appearance.
Liu Yu got up from the ground, furious and embarrassed: "What are you laughing at!"
Xu Xian mustered his courage, picked up a stone, and threw it at the robbers.
"Ouch!" The stone hit a robber on the head.
The robber, clutching his head, yelled, "Who threw this?"
Xu Xian was so frightened that he hid behind Bai Suzhen.
Just as the two sides were locked in a fierce battle, a shout suddenly rang out.
"The officials are here! The officials are here!"
Upon hearing this, the robbers panicked.
The bandit leader shouted, "Retreat!"
The robbers scattered and fled.
Liu Yu said smugly, "Hmph, let's see if you dare to rob me again!"
When the officials arrived, the head official asked, "What happened?"
Liu Yu quickly stepped forward and recounted what had happened.
The officer said, "You did well. Be careful next time."
Liu Yu and his companions thanked the officials and continued on their way.
As she walked, Liu Yu felt hungry.
"Let's find a place to get something to eat," Liu Yu said.
They arrived at an inn, and as soon as they sat down, Liu Yu shouted, "Waiter, bring up all your best wine and dishes!"
The waiter responded, and soon a table full of dishes was served.
Liu Yu wolfed down the food.
"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you," Bai Suzhen said with a smile.
With her mouth full of food, Liu Yu mumbled, "It's so delicious, I'm starving."
While they were eating, the guests at the next table caught their attention.
The guests at that table were discussing something strange.
One person said, "I heard there's a monster in the mountains outside the city that often comes out to scare people."
Another person said, "Yes, several people have already fallen ill from fright."
Upon hearing this, Liu Yu became interested: "Are there really monsters? Let's go take a look."
Xu Xian said, "It's better not to go; it's too dangerous."
Liu Yu said, "What's there to be afraid of? Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing are here."
Bai Suzhen said, "Since Liu Yu wants to go, then let's go and see."
After they finished their meal, they headed towards the mountains outside the city.
When Liu Yu reached the foot of the mountain, he looked up and saw that the mountain was shrouded in clouds and mist, looking mysterious and unpredictable.
"This mountain looks a bit eerie," Liu Yu thought to herself, feeling a little uneasy.
Xiaoqing said, "Brother-in-law, are you scared?"
Liu Yu retorted defiantly, "Who's scared? Let's go!"
As they walked up the mountain path, they suddenly heard a sinister laugh.
"Hahahaha!"
Liu Yu shuddered in fright: "What, what is that sound?"
Xu Xian gripped Liu Yu's arm tightly: "I...I don't know either."
Just then, a figure flashed past them.
"Monster!" Liu Yu shouted.
They quickly gave chase.
They chased after it until they came to a cave.
Liu Yu cautiously entered the cave; it was pitch black inside, and she couldn't see anything.
"Sister, Xiaoqing, where are you?" Liu Yu called out.
Suddenly, a hand landed on his shoulder.
"Ah!" Liu Yu jumped up in fright.
It turned out to be Xiaoqing.
"Brother-in-law, you're such a coward," Xiaoqing said with a laugh.
They continued into the cave and suddenly saw a light ahead.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a campfire, with a monster sitting beside it.
The monster had fangs and was covered in hair.
Liu Yu was so scared she almost wet her pants: "Monster!"
Bai Suzhen stepped forward and said, "Why are you frightening people here?"
The monster said, "I was originally cultivating here, but I was disturbed by humans, so I came out to scare people."
Liu Yu said, "What you're doing is wrong. You should live in peace with humans."
The monster thought for a moment and said, "Okay, I won't scare people anymore."
They resolved the monster's problem and prepared to descend the mountain.
On the way down the mountain, Liu Yu accidentally tripped and fell again.
"Ugh, why am I so unlucky!" Liu Yu complained.
Everyone laughed.
Back in the city, Liu Yu and his companions continued their adventure...
