Chapter 216: Testing the Waters
Chapter 216: Testing the Waters
Looking at the huge plaque above his head, the doctor sighed softly.
His antidote was given to him by Wanxia. If Wanxia hadn't given it to him, there would have been no way to treat Sun Jiayi's illness.
Inside the room, Wanxia was discussing something with Lin Rusi.
"Miss, when will we send the antidote to Miss Sun?"
Lin Rusi pondered silently, and after doing it, she felt that she had gone a bit too far.
Although she didn't think she had the kind heart to save someone who intended to harm her.
But since she was the one who asked Wanxia to do it, and now that it has caused such a stir and ruined their reputations, she doesn't need to keep holding on to it since the goal of punishing them has already been achieved.
Seeing her head bowed in thought, Wanxia said, "Miss is too kind-hearted. If you ask me, you shouldn't have saved them with such wicked intentions. It would have been better to let them suffer the consequences of their own actions."
Lin Rusi shook her head, her expression somewhat heavy.
"I will definitely give the person the antidote, but I need to think about the timing."
"Miss, I think since Princess Lin'an is almost recovered, it wouldn't be good to delay any longer. Why don't we give the Sun family the antidote in the next few days?" Wanqi suggested softly when she saw Lin Rusi hesitate.
As Lin Rusi was pondering, a report suddenly came from outside.
"Miss, a doctor has come to see you."
doctor?
Lin Rusi looked up at Wanxia, puzzled.
Wanxia was also taken aback, then remembered the doctor she had arranged to see earlier, and replied, "Miss Hui, I know. I told her before that if there was anything, she should come here to make an appointment."
"Oh?" Lin Rusi raised an eyebrow, somewhat interested. "Go and let him in. I'd like to see him too."
Wanxia was stunned, not understanding why Lin Rusi wanted to see this doctor.
Lin Rusi didn't tell her, but covered her mouth and chuckled, "You can just go and bring him in."
Since it was Wanxia who found this person, he must be reliable. So she decided to give him a try and see if he was a good fit.
When Wanxia brought him in, the man knelt on the ground, his face full of fear and panic.
He originally came to ask Wanxia for the antidote, but he suddenly saw Lin Rusi.
This left him even more confused.
Seeing his somewhat nervous appearance, Lin Rusi said softly, "Don't be nervous. I'm not doing anything. I just want to ask you a question."
That's what they say, but Lin Rusi seems to have a natural magic that makes others feel pressured when they're around her.
The doctor lowered his head, not daring to look directly at her.
Seeing his timid appearance, Lin Rusi lowered her voice and asked softly, "Tell me, what brings you to see Wanxia today?"
"Miss Lin, it's like this. Today, the Sun family sent someone to ask me to examine Miss Sun. I noticed that Miss Sun has the same symptoms as Princess Lin'an a few days ago. I suspect that..." The doctor's voice rose and fell, and he occasionally looked up at her.
Lin Rusi rubbed her sleeves left and right, and lightly tapped the table with her right finger.
"It was my idea. I had someone spread the word that Princess Lin'an was cured by you, so when Sun Jiayi found out, she naturally came to you."
The doctor didn't speak, but a few beads of sweat unconsciously rolled down his forehead.
Lin Rusi continued, "Of course it was my idea too. The poison on their faces was my idea."
Her words were a bit harsher than before, and Lin Rusi observed his attitude as she spoke.
No one else knew about this except her own people, and now she told the doctor in order to see if he was loyal.
If he has ulterior motives, then the rest of the work will not be possible.
No one spoke. In the silence, the man could only hear his own heartbeat and the occasional tapping of his fingers on the table.
He came looking for the antidote, but unexpectedly ended up in an interrogation scene.
Even though he hadn't done anything, Lin Rusi's aura completely suppressed him.
He let the cold sweat pour down his face, but dared not reach out to wipe it away.
Lin Rusi's words were simple and clear, and everyone present understood her meaning. She made no attempt to hide these messages from him in order to see his reaction, to test whether he was loyal and whether he could be used by her.
Having figured this out, the doctor hurriedly said, "Miss Lin, don't worry. I am absolutely loyal. Whatever you do, I will never tell anyone. I will keep my mouth shut."
Lin Rusi smiled slightly, as if she had received some answer, and then said, "I told you not to be nervous. I was just chatting with you. Of course I trust the doctor."
She then instructed Wanxia, "Serve the doctor tea."
The doctor stood up unsteadily, his hand holding the tea still trembling slightly.
Wanxia handed him the tea and chuckled, "Miss isn't going to eat you, why are you so scared?"
Seeing this, the people around them laughed.
Lin Rusi listened to Wanxia's words and suddenly looked a little dazed. Thinking back to her past life, she had never been so frightening. Back then, she was always the one being schemed against, following behind others without even realizing she was in a trap. But now, it was the other way around.
For a moment, she felt a surge of emotion. Having been reborn, she had become much more clear-headed and matured considerably.
What those people did to her in her past life was, in a way, a kind of trial for her.
At least it will make her more confident and prepared to deal with these kinds of things in the future.
Thinking of this, Lin Rusi deliberately put on a stern face and asked Wanxia, "Was I that scary just now?"
Wanxia had been following Lin Rusi for so long that she could naturally see the changes in her emotions, so she immediately smiled and said, "Of course I don't think Miss is scary, but it's just that it's the doctor's first time here, and you asked such a question. If it were me, I would also be flustered."
"You silly girl." Lin Rusi shook her head and teased, "You're the only one who knows how to make fun of me."
Listening to their conversation, the doctor became less nervous and even chuckled occasionally.
It was as if everything that had just happened was his imagination. Lin Rusi hadn't done anything, and she wasn't even that old, yet she inexplicably terrified him.
Once he had calmed down, Lin Rusi asked, "Tell me about the situation over there. How is Sun Jiayi?"
Lin Rusi's question made him want to stand up again to answer, but Lin Rusi saw through his intention and said, "No need for formalities, let's talk while sitting down."
The doctor nodded and said, "Miss, after my examination, I found that Miss Sun's face is disfigured and cannot be treated."
Lin Rusi frowned, thought for a moment, and asked, "What did you say to Sun Jiayi?"
"Miss, I said I need to go back and study the prescription."
Lin Rusi nodded and said nothing more.
She knew that Wanxia's poison couldn't be cured by ordinary methods, which was why they had consulted a bunch of doctors without any success.
Now that we've decided to let them go, we need to find a suitable reason.
