Chapter 75 Have You Ever Thought of Me?
Chapter 75 Have You Ever Thought of Me?
Shi Sui knocked on the door and entered the office after hearing a "Come in."
The grade head, surnamed Li, only teaches math to Class 4 of the Evergreen program. He is in his thirties, wears glasses, and has a rather refined appearance.
“There just happens to be a vacant room in the girls’ dormitory in our grade.” He sat behind his desk, the light from the computer screen shining on his face, looking at a spreadsheet.
“But dormitories are usually applied for by students from impoverished families. I’ve looked at your information, and I’ve also heard the rumors circulating at school recently. Your family is well-off, but the school’s accommodation is not as good as your home’s. Can you accept that?”
“I fully accept it.” Shi Sui handed over the paper materials, and she forged a signature in the parent’s signature section.
Director Li glanced at the signature and checked the materials.
He's too busy with work to call and verify the authenticity of the signature.
“Fine,” he said. “But someone died in that empty dorm room before, and nobody wants to live there now. Are you really willing to live there alone? It’s not too late to back out now.”
"I'm not afraid of death."
"I'm not telling you to die." Director Li rubbed his temples.
"Oh, I mean, I'm not afraid of ghosts and I'd be willing to live there."
"Okay." Director Li quickly signed the application form and handed it to Shi Sui. "Put your fingerprint here. The ink pad is on the table next to you."
Shi Sui pressed her handprint.
"There are two copies of the commitment letter. Keep one copy with me and give the other to the dormitory manager," Director Li said. "There are also three copies of the dormitory application form. I have already signed it. After you give it to the dormitory manager to sign, keep one copy with the dormitory manager, bring another copy to me, and keep the last copy for yourself."
"it is good."
Shi Sui nodded and left the office.
Director Li was quite nervous as she stared at the signature.
Fortunately, we managed to get away with it, and everything went even more smoothly than we had imagined.
The sky was so blue, the clouds so white, and the air so fresh.
Shi Sui felt that she could turn into a little bird and fly in the sky.
The elevator beeped as it reached the first floor. Shi Sui was about to rush to the dormitory office when she looked up and saw Pei Shuoxun standing in front of her, blocking her way.
Shi Sui was about to slip away to his side without hesitation, but unexpectedly, the boy opposite her grabbed her arms and pressed her down to the spot.
Hey, did she break some heavenly law? Why would anyone want to fight her?
Was it because they felt she lacked exercise that they sent her here specifically to help her improve her physical fitness?
Shi Sui clenched her fist and looked up, ready to swing it at him.
Pei Shuoxun stared straight at her.
"I am Chen Xun." His heart was like a taut string, growing more uneasy and anxious the closer he got.
Time seemed to slow down as he stared intently at her, at her eyes, her nose, her lips… trying to detect subtle changes in her emotions.
And, memory overlap.
The fist that was about to be thrown was controlled by voice, freezing for a second, and then Shi Sui swung forward without hesitation.
Why the hell did you leave without saying goodbye?!
The fist landed heavily on Pei Shuoxun's body, showing no mercy. Pei Shuoxun winced in pain, but a pure smile, which he could not suppress, appeared on his face, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
He felt like a fire was burning inside him, and he was so happy he was going crazy.
Pei Shuoxun had a lot to say, but he was so overwhelmed with joy that his brain went blank.
It was like going back to the old days; he said, "You swore."
“I’ll say it, I’ll say it. I’ll swear a hundred times a day after you left, and it’s none of your business.”
Shi Sui still felt a lump in her throat.
When I was looking at the photos last night, I was very careful to smooth his hair, touch his hair, and poke his face.
But when I see the real person, I get really angry.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left without saying goodbye that day.” Pei Shuoxun looked down at her and explained, “The Pei family took my mother away. They came to the school to look for me, and I thought my mother had been arrested. In my anxiety, I went with them.”
He said intently, "I should go find you first."
"Want me to come with you to rescue Aunt Chen?" Shi Sui thought for a moment and said seriously, "It's not impossible. If you come with me, no matter how many people they have, we can definitely rescue Aunt Chen..."
Before I could finish speaking, a beeping sound rang in my ears.
The alarm was triggered because the elevator doors had been left open for an extended period.
Just as Shi Sui stretched out her foot to step out of the elevator, two hands landed on her shoulders, leaving her feet dangling in the air, and she was lifted out of the elevator.
Then she was tucked into his arms.
Shi Sui found herself in a hot embrace that smelled of smoke. His breath brushed against her head, and the boy's chin rested on her head. His arms were wrapped around her, holding her very tightly.
Pei Shuoxun's breathing deepened, his Adam's apple bobbing as he asked, "Why are you so gentle?"
"Life has been tough. For years, we've gone hungry, sometimes we don't even know where our next meal will come from."
He hugged her even tighter.
Shi Sui really disliked this feeling, as if she were being imprisoned. She patted his unruly hands and said, "Do you want to strangle me? Let go."
"How could I bear to?" Pei Shuoxun loosened his grip a bit. "Just one more hug."
Shi Sui seized the opportunity to push him away forcefully, escape from his embrace, and take a step back to keep her distance.
She protested, "Why are you hugging me? You weren't like this before!"
"What was I like before?" Pei Shuoxun raised an eyebrow slightly.
Shi Sui didn't speak, but looked up at him without blinking. This was the first time she had ever looked at Pei Shuoxun so seriously.
To be honest, after he revealed that he was Chen Xun, his facial features and bone structure really did resemble the same person.
Pei Shuoxun was also looking at her, so he naturally noticed her gaze.
His hair was just washed last night, so it shouldn't be oily yet, but he didn't style it this morning. Ugh, what a miscalculation.
I washed my face with facial cleanser this morning, ugh, I should have just washed my face in the bathroom.
I've shaved my beard too.
His eyebrows, he should get them trimmed.
The weather has been dry lately, I should buy a lip balm to use.
And the glasses, thankfully the lenses were just wiped clean, so they should be clean.
Oh right, and clothes too. Ugh, I should have put together an outfit last night. What he's wearing today is so ordinary!
Pei Shuoxun felt increasingly ashamed of himself and touched his face, asking, "What are you looking at?"
I breathed a sigh of relief. Great, my face wasn't oily.
"Chen Xun, it's been years! You've cut your hair, are wearing glasses, and seem to have grown taller." Shi Sui stood on tiptoe and gestured to show her height. "I didn't even recognize you."
"I didn't recognize you either."
Pei Shuoxun reached out and twirled a stray strand of hair around her cheek: "It's been years, Shi Sui, you've become so effeminate."
Shi Sui slapped his hand away: "Speak properly. I am a woman, and I should be a mother."
The girl had long hair tied in a ponytail, with a few strands falling across her cheeks. Her features were bright and beautiful, and when she spoke, the corners of her mouth turned up, making her look vibrant and pretty.
Pei Shuoxun looked at it more and more, and liked it even more: "You've become more beautiful."
Of course, even if Shi Sui turned into a man, he would still like her.
"I'm naturally beautiful," Shi Sui scoffed. "I was just pretending to be ugly before."
"Yes Yes Yes."
"Where's Aunt Chen?" Shi Sui asked. "How is Aunt Chen?"
"My mom lives in the neighboring city of T. Shall we go visit her this weekend? She definitely won't recognize you."
"Go, go, go!" Shi Sui excitedly agreed, wanting to spin around happily.
Pei Shuoxun looked down at her. The girl's beautiful eyes crinkled into crescent moons as she smiled. He asked, "What are you holding in your hand? Are you going to—?"
"Oh right, I still need to complete the boarding procedures. Shall we talk later?"
"I go with you."
Along the way, they talked about their experiences over the past few years. Chen Xun was taken back to the Pei family and became Pei Shuoxun, and Shi Sui also changed her name because of the sponsor.
Pei Shuoxun told her everything about the Pei family.
Shi Sui also told him everything about the Jiang family.
In any case, there's nothing that can't be said between the two of them.
The flower branches swayed gently in the wind. The garden was quiet after class. The two walked along the pebble path, and Pei Shuoxun asked her, "Have you ever thought about me?"
"I'm not sure," Shi Sui replied without hesitation. "When I'm hungry, I definitely miss your cooking."
Have you tried to contact me?
"No." Shi Sui retorted, "Tch, then have you contacted me?"
Even if she wanted to look, she had no clues.
"Yes," Pei Shuoxun answered without hesitation.
“I come to see you every year,” he sighed softly, “but you… you’ve moved.”
He didn't tell her that the sponsor of the Little Red Flower charity event was the Pei family.
To force her to move, change her name, and erase all traces of her identity.
Fortunately, the breeze was gentle and the sun was shining brightly, and it was destined that we would meet again.
