Chapter 18 What did you call me?
Chapter 18 What did you call me?
"When I go to Korea, I'll ask Park Jin-young to give you guys a few days off."
"That's great!" Chou Tzu-yu exclaimed excitedly, her eyes lighting up.
The last time Li Yuan said that, the company actually gave them three days off.
Although it was only three days, it was enough for them to rest and adjust their condition.
She didn't quite understand why Li Yuan had such great power—a college student who hadn't even graduated yet, who could make the company give him a holiday just by saying so?
I don't understand it, but whatever, as long as I have a holiday.
The greatest virtue of idols is not asking too many questions.
Lee Won was confident because he acquired some shares of JYP in 2014.
It wasn't much, but it was enough to force the company's management to consider the opinion of this "minority shareholder" when making certain decisions.
"So when is Lee Won oppa going to Korea?" Chou Tzu-yu asked again.
"It should be a few more days. I'll go over after I go back to the capital to pack my things and finish up what I'm doing," Li Yuan replied casually.
"A few days?" Mina's eyes widened in surprise. "Is there a specific itinerary this time?"
In her memory, Li Yuan rarely went to South Korea unless it was a holiday. He would only fly there during non-holiday periods if there were special reasons.
After all, although the distance between Beijing and Seoul is not far, traveling back and forth is quite exhausting.
"I wrote a song for Red Velvet," Lee Won stated his reason directly.
"Ah—" Mina's voice trailed off, sounding a little strange.
Logically speaking, Red Velvet is TWICE's rival.
Li Yuan actually wrote a song for his rival! What a traitor!
Mina snorted inwardly and secretly decided that she would definitely ignore him after he went to South Korea.
"Of course, the main reason is that I was sent to Seoul National University as an exchange student..." Lee Won paused and began to explain.
He briefly explained the background of his selection for the exchange program and his impending stay in Seoul for several years.
"Oh, I see." The two nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.
"Anyway, I'm going to be staying in South Korea for a few years," Lee Won concluded.
But then again, it's just writing a song, it's really not a big deal!
Mina completely forgot that she had just vowed to herself that she "wouldn't pay any attention to him."
"Remember to message me when you get to Korea." Mina tilted her head and looked at him.
"I'll definitely send it to you when we get there." Li Yuan stopped in front of a sightseeing cable car and stepped inside without thinking much about it.
I'll probably send a group message to a lot of people; there are quite a few to notify.
The other two followed without much thought, completely unaware that the cable car was slowly ascending.
"By the way, Brother Li Yuan..." Zhou Ziyu, sitting opposite Li Yuan in the cable car, said, "It's been so long, I haven't really thanked you properly yet."
As for Minami, she had quietly moved from the opposite side to sit next to Li Yuan at some point.
After three people boarded the four-seater cable car, the remaining empty seat was left all alone on the opposite side, unfilled—after all, no one would feel comfortable squeezing in to share the ride with three other people; it would be rather awkward.
"Thank you for what?" Li Yuan paused for a moment, then thought for a second, "Are you treating me? It's nothing, I made my money off you guys anyway."
"No, that's not it..." Chou Tzu-yu quickly waved her hand, then asked curiously, "What do you mean by 'money earned from us'?"
"That's not the point," Li Yuan quickly changed the subject. "What are you thanking me for?"
I've mainly made money from TWICE's traffic code over the past two years.
"Thank you for taking care of me, Lee Won oppa," Chou Tzuyu said with a smile, her eyes narrowed. "If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have debuted."
"It's not that bad," Li Yuan said confidently. "Even if I didn't say anything, Park Jin-young would still have let you debut, after all, you were very popular back then."
Tzuyu is the most popular contestant on "SIXTEEN," and even if Park Jin-young were foolish, he wouldn't eliminate her.
Hirai Momo almost got eliminated, that was the real thrill.
"But what happened after that?" Chou Tzu-yu gave a "I knew you'd say that" look, with a hint of smugness in her voice, "During the debut song, my parts were almost zero. It was you who went to the PD-nim and had him change the allocation."
She paused, then added, "And the following main tracks."
She had actually known about these things all along.
"And there's that rumor about me from before." When Chou Tzu-yu said this, her voice trembled slightly, and a hint of lingering fear flashed in her eyes.
That period was the darkest time of her life, filled with overwhelming negative comments, endless accusations, and even going out became an ordeal.
She once thought she would be abandoned by the company, and that her idol career was about to end before it had even truly begun.
As a result, before the matter could escalate, it was resolved by the evidence that Li Yuan had prepared in advance, thus preventing it from spreading further.
Otherwise, Chou Tzu-yu dared not imagine what would happen next.
"That matter? What's the big deal?" Li Yuan said nonchalantly. "Anyway, Korean content was banned afterward, so I didn't really help much."
However, it's true that because of his involvement, TWICE's popularity in China is much higher than in his previous life. JYP Entertainment isn't currently in a state of "turning pale at the mention of China," and their interactions and promotions are proceeding normally.
"That's because you tried your best." Chou Tzu-yu pouted, her tone stubborn.
Li Yuan smiled helplessly and didn't continue the conversation.
His phone vibrated a few times in his pocket, and he took it out to look at it.
It's news from Bae Joo-hyun and Son Seung-wan. They've landed in South Korea and are letting him know they're safe.
He lowered his head, tapping his fingers on the screen as he began to reply.
The cable car swayed and wobbled to its final stop, emitting a soft mechanical sound as the doors slowly opened.
"Onii-chan, we're here." Mina stood up and called out softly.
"Here you are, Pei..."
As soon as he uttered the word "Pei," Li Yuan abruptly slammed on the brakes.
But Mina heard it.
"What?" Mina's voice was filled with disbelief and surprise, her eyes widening slightly.
"Mina," Li Yuanqian chuckled, trying to cover up his earlier mistake by calling her name.
"What?" Mina's eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint in them.
"What did you want to call Pei something just now?" Her voice was much louder than usual. "Did you want to call her Eileen's name?"
"Calm down, calm down." Li Yuan's smile had become quite stiff.
"You!" Mina glanced at Tzuyu, who had already walked ahead, and after making sure she couldn't hear her, she lowered her voice and warned, "When you were with me, you were calling out another woman's name."
There was a hint of sourness in her tone.
"How could that be?" Li Yuan quickly explained, "When I'm with you, why would I call someone else by their name?"
Mina blushed when she heard this.
"You..." Mina was about to say something when Tzuyu's voice drifted over from the front.
"Unnie, Lee Won oppa, hurry up!"
Mina had no choice but to swallow the words she was about to say, and turned to chase after Tzuyu, leaving Lee Won with only a cute back of his head.
"It almost turned out badly."
