Chapter 95 The First Qixi Festival
In the Lin family's living room, they were eating hot pot and chatting.
"Xiaofeng, we've seen those news reports online," Lin's father put down his chopsticks and looked at Lin Feng. "It's better to keep a low profile and avoid conflicts with others."
"Yes," Lin's mother chimed in, "Lu Han has a lot of fans, and we'll be the ones who suffer if we go head-to-head with him."
Lin Feng picked up a piece of tripe and put it in his mouth, hissing from the spiciness: "Mom and Dad, I know what I'm doing. Whether a movie is good or not is up to the audience to decide. I'm just telling the truth."
"You've always been this stubborn since you were little," Lin's mother said, shaking her head helplessly.
Seeing this, Liu Haochun quickly changed the subject with a smile: "Uncle and Aunt, Brother Feng took such good care of us on set. Last time we were filming a rain scene, I accidentally sprained my ankle, and he personally found a doctor and even had his assistant make me some pork rib soup."
She recounted some amusing anecdotes from the film set, saying that Raymond Lam spent a whole hour rehearsing his lines with her to get the emotions in a scene more on point. She also mentioned that although he was both the director and the male lead, he was very approachable and would help the crew move props.
Mr. and Mrs. Lin listened with delight, saying, "Our Xiaofeng has been thoughtful since he was little."
Tian Xiwei quickly chimed in, "Yeah, yeah! Brother Feng is also an amazing cook! Last time on the set of 'So Cute Us,' the tomato and egg noodles he made for me were even better than my mom's!"
The two girls chatted back and forth, praising Raymond Lam's good points, as if they were competing to see who knew him better.
Watching this scene, Lin's mother secretly exchanged a glance with Lin's father, her eyes filled with a smile. These two girls were interested in their son.
After dinner, Lin's mother tidied up the guest room: "Weiwei and Haochun will sleep in this room tonight."
"Thank you, Auntie," they both said in unison.
After closing the door, only the two of them remained in the guest room. At first, it was a little awkward, but the atmosphere gradually eased as they talked about their upcoming university life. As they talked, the topic eventually circled back to Raymond Lam and the film "Fame and Fortune."
"Do you think this movie can win?" Liu Haochun leaned against the headboard, his tone tinged with worry.
"Definitely!" Xiao Tian said confidently. "Brother Feng's judgment is never wrong! Besides, we have so many fans supporting us."
"But Lu Han's fans are really crazy," Liu Haochun sighed, "I'm a little scared."
"Don't be afraid!" Xiao Tian patted her shoulder. "We'll cheer for Feng Ge together! He's so amazing, he'll definitely do it!"
At this moment, they temporarily put aside their subtle competition and had only one common wish in their hearts: that Raymond Lam's movie would be a success.
The next morning, the three of them headed to Chengdu. As another major city in the Sichuan-Chongqing region, Chengdu's fans were exceptionally enthusiastic.
At the roadshow, many audience members came holding up signs that read "Go Raymond Lam!" and "You'll definitely become famous and successful!"
"Brother Feng! We support you!" the fans in the audience shouted.
Raymond Lam smiled and bowed, "Thank you everyone. Remember to go see the movie when it's released!"
"I'll definitely go!"
Standing on the stage, Liu Haochun looked at his supporters below and suddenly felt much more at ease.
Tian Xiwei sat in the first row of the audience, constantly taking photos with her phone, her smile never fading. Seeing someone give flowers to Raymond Lam made her even happier than if she had received flowers herself. When she heard fans shouting "Brother Feng is so handsome," she secretly nodded to herself, of course, her Brother Feng was the most handsome.
It was past 9 p.m. when the roadshow ended, and the group found a roadside skewers restaurant to eat at. Not long after they sat down, a passerby recognized Raymond Lam.
"Are you Raymond Lam? I especially love 'The Beginning'!" A girl excitedly ran over. "Can we take a picture together?"
"Sure," Lin Feng agreed with a smile.
More and more people gathered around, some wanting autographs, some wanting photos, and others pulling him aside to chat about the plot of "Fame and Fortune".
"Brother Feng is quite popular," Liu Haochun said with a smile after the crowd dispersed.
"It's all earned through my work." Lin Feng wiped his sweat and put a skewer of Xiao Tian's favorite gizzard on his plate. "Eat it quickly, it won't taste good when it gets cold."
It was already eleven o'clock when they returned to the hotel. Liu Haochun went back to his room, but Lin Feng stopped in the corridor and winked at Tian Xiwei.
Xiao Tian understood immediately, quickly opened his own door, and then swiftly locked it again after he went inside.
"Like doing something wrong." Oda patted his chest, but his face was filled with excitement.
Lin Feng smiled and took a small box out of his pocket: "Close your eyes, there's a gift for you."
"What?" Xiaotian obediently closed her eyes, her heart pounding.
She felt Lin Feng open the box, and then something cool landed on her collarbone. "You can open your eyes now."
Xiaotian opened her eyes and rushed to the mirror—she was wearing a delicate necklace with a small blue zircon pendant that shimmered gently under the light, making her collarbone look slender and beautiful.
"Wow!" She turned around in surprise. "Brother Feng, is this for me?"
"Yes," Lin Feng nodded, a smile in his eyes, "I knew you liked it, so I picked it out especially for you."
He saw this clavicle necklace by chance in a jewelry store. The blue zircon was the color of the sky, and the little dress pendant added a touch of cuteness. He felt at first glance that it would suit Xiaotian perfectly.
"Today is Qixi Festival," he said softly. "This is our first Qixi Festival gift. Do you like it?"
"I love it! I love it so much!" Xiaotian threw herself into his arms and kissed him several times on the cheek. "Brother Feng, please help me put it on properly, I want to wear it forever!"
Raymond Lam helped her put on the necklace, saying, "It looks really good."
"It's mainly because Brother Feng has good taste!" Xiao Tian spun around proudly, then suddenly remembered something, "Oh right, I also have a gift for you!"
She took a box from the bedside table and handed it to him: "Close your eyes too, count to ten silently, and then open them."
Lin Feng smiled and did as instructed. When he counted to ten, he opened his eyes and saw a mug in the box. The mug had two cartoon characters drawn on it: a boy in a white shirt and a girl with her hair in a bun, holding hands and looking at the stars. Next to them were two letters: "L" and "T".
"This is... us?" Lin Feng picked up his cup.
"Mmm!" Xiaotian nodded, her eyes sparkling. "I had it custom-made. Do you like it?"
"I like it," Lin Feng said gently, pulling her into his arms. "I like anything you give me."
Xiao Tian leaned against Lin Feng's chest, touching the collarbone chain around her neck. Although they couldn't be together openly on this Qixi Festival, she was already very satisfied with such a sweet gift.
Tian Xi stirred slightly in the early morning, groggily opening her eyes to meet Lin Feng's smiling gaze. "Awake?"
Memories of last night flooded back: the warmth of his fingertips as he helped her put on the necklace, the earnest look in his eyes when he said, "Wear it to sleep so you won't lose it," and all the things that made her blush and her heart race.
"Ouch!" She suddenly covered her face. Last night, Feng insisted that she wear that collarbone necklace all the time, saying, "That way the gift can stay with you forever." Now that she thought about it, he was obviously doing it on purpose!
"What are you laughing at!" Xiao Tian broke free from his embrace, turned her back to him, and pretended to fix her hair. "It's all your fault, Brother Feng."
Lin Feng gently wrapped his arms around her waist from behind: "What's it to blame me for? Is it because the gift I gave you was too beautiful?"
"No, that's not it!" Xiaotian turned around, glared at him, and said, "It's your fault, it's your fault for being so mean last night!"
She raised her hand and touched the collarbone necklace around her neck. The blue zircon sparkled in the morning light. Last night, she felt something digging into her neck and wanted to take it off, but he held her hand down: "Wear it. This is our first Qixi Festival gift. You have to wear it properly."
