Chapter 18 Xiaotian: A lifetime
Chapter 18 Xiaotian: A lifetime
Liu Haochun rode with increasing ease, even daring to hum a tune. She rode with Lin Feng on the back, circling the open space twice. When they stopped, her face flushed with excitement: "Brother Feng, I think I'm not afraid anymore!"
"Great job!" He gave her a thumbs up after getting out of the car. "See? It's pretty simple, isn't it? You just lacked a little courage."
"My turn! My turn!" Tian Xiwei couldn't wait any longer. She rushed over, pulled Liu Haochun aside, got on the bike herself, and patted the back seat. "Brother Feng, hurry up and get on!"
Reluctantly getting in, Tian Xiwei was completely different from Liu Haochun. She twisted the accelerator and accelerated, the car shooting off with a "whoosh," even deliberately making a sharp turn, startling him so much that he quickly shouted, "Slow down! You silly girl, don't mess around!"
"Haha, that was exciting!" Tian Xi smiled broadly, riding her bike in circles on the open space, occasionally turning back to talk to him, "Brother Feng, do you think I ride better than Hao Chun?"
"Yes, yes, you're the best, slow down first!"
After driving around twice, Tian Xiwei finally stopped the car. She jumped out, still exclaiming with excitement, "That was so much fun! Feng-ge, it's your turn to drive me, let's go around a couple more times!"
"Aren't you done playing yet?" Unable to resist her pestering, he had no choice but to sit in the front. "Sit still and don't move around."
Tian Xiwei immediately sat in the back seat, and before the engine even started moving, she hugged his waist tightly, pressing her face against his back: "Okay, let's go!"
My heart skipped a beat. Unlike Liu Haochun's cautious touch just now, Tian Xiwei's hug was tight and real, even through the thin sweater.
He hesitated for a moment, then quickly turned on the ignition, and the car started moving forward. Tian Xiwei, completely unaware, was still excitedly shouting behind him, "Faster! Faster!"
"You're hugging me too tight, I can't breathe."
"No way!" Tian Xi loosened her grip slightly, but still clung to him. "I'm afraid of falling off." She buried her face in his back, feeling sweet inside. Being carried by Brother Feng was the most comfortable and much more fun than riding by herself.
Liu Haochun watched from the side, feeling a little envious. Tian Xiwei and Feng Ge always got along so naturally and intimately, unlike her, who always seemed a bit reserved.
After circling around twice, they stopped the bike. Tian Xiwei rubbed against his back, still wanting more, and said, "Let's ride a little longer."
"That's enough, we should go back now. We still have filming to do later."
"Okay." Tian Xi reluctantly got down, oblivious to his odd behavior, preoccupied with boasting to Liu Haochun, "Haochun, you'll definitely be fine filming later!"
"Okay, I'll do my best," Liu Haochun said sincerely. After the practice just now, she felt more confident and was no longer as flustered as she had been in the morning.
The three walked towards the film set, with Tian Xiwei in the middle, her left arm linked with Lin Feng's and her right arm linked with Liu Haochun's, chattering away incessantly.
When filming the electric scooter scene again in the afternoon, it went much more smoothly. Liu Haochun rode the scooter, and although she was still a little nervous, she was no longer flustered. Tian Xiwei sat behind her, cooperating with her lines, and occasionally deliberately tugged at her to make her laugh, which made her feel more natural.
"Passed!" Liu Haochun breathed a sigh of relief, got out of the car, and gave Tian Xiwei a high five.
"I told you you could do it!" Tian Xi said with a smile.
"Thanks to you and Brother Feng," Liu Hao said sincerely.
The other scenes were also filmed exceptionally smoothly. In the scene where Shi Miao and her brother resolve their misunderstanding, Tian Xiwei perfectly captured the emotions of being both wronged and heartbroken, and her tears fell quickly and genuinely.
Liu Haochun, who plays the best friend, quietly hands her tissues, and the worry in her eyes is very convincing. Even Zhou Ming, who is usually very picky, couldn't help but praise: "These two girls seem to have suddenly become enlightened today, their state is amazing."
It was only 5:30 when they finished work. Tian Xiwei removed her makeup, changed into her own hoodie and jeans, and pulled his arm to walk outside: "Brother Feng, let's go ride the electric scooter!"
"Just finished work, aren't you tired?"
"I'm not tired at all!" Tian Xiwei pulled even tighter. "It's still early, take me for a drive! Just half an hour, okay?" She shook his arm and acted coquettishly.
"Just half an hour, not a minute more." Unable to persuade her otherwise, he had no choice but to borrow an electric scooter from the props department and find two helmets.
"Yay!" Tian Xiwei snatched the pink helmet and put it on, deliberately tying the straps crookedly and making a face at him.
"Put it on properly, safety first." He reached out and helped her fasten the helmet strap.
"Let's go!" she urged, jumping quickly into the back seat.
He hopped on the electric scooter and turned the throttle: "Hold on tight."
The car slowly drove away from the film set and turned onto Binjiang Road. Tian Xiwei hugged his waist tightly.
"Brother Feng," she suddenly said, "it reminds me of when you used to give me rides on your bicycle when we were little."
"Remember? Back then you were only up to my waist, and you would always tug at my clothes whenever you sat in the back, afraid of falling off."
"No way!" Tian Xi playfully punched him on the back. "I was just worried you'd ride too fast! When we were little, you always liked to put your hands down on the bottom of the hill, which scared me so much I'd scream!"
"I was trying to perform acrobatics for you. You even said you wanted to learn to ride a bicycle when you grew up, and you wanted me to sit on the back. But you fell twice and still didn't learn."
"Who said that!" Tian Xiwei retorted stubbornly. "I just think electric bikes are more convenient! Look at us now, we can run without pedaling, isn't that great?"
She buried her face even deeper, her voice muffled, "It's been so many years since I've felt like this... When we were little, in the summer, you would always sneak off on your uncle's bicycle and take me to the riverbank to watch the sunset, and we'd buy popsicles for 50 cents each, which we'd share."
Tian Xi chuckled, "Brother Feng, wouldn't it be wonderful if things could always be like this?"
"Has it always been like that?"
"Just... I can keep riding my bike like this, feeling the wind, without having to think about homework, without having to act, and without having to grow up." Tian Xiwei's voice was a little lower, with a childlike longing in it.
"You can still be like that when you grow up. When you become a big star, I'll take you for a ride on my electric scooter. The only thing is that you might have to wear a mask and sunglasses then, otherwise we'll get recognized and cause a traffic jam."
"No way!" Tian Xiwei rubbed against his back. "Even if I become a big star, I'll still be your little sister. Brother Feng, you have to take care of me like this for the rest of your life, okay?"
"Okay, no problem."
The car drove slowly along the riverside road. The lights of the cruise ships on the river were on. Tian Xiwei stopped talking and just hugged his waist.
She secretly glanced up and saw his hair being blown by the wind. It turned out that no matter how many years passed, as long as she was with him like this, she would still be that little girl who never had to grow up.
"That's about enough, time to head back. If we go any later, there will be a long line at the barbecue restaurant." I glanced at my watch; we'd already been riding for almost half an hour.
"Just five more minutes! Just five minutes!" Tian Xiwei pleaded, burying her face even deeper.
"No, we agreed on half an hour." He turned the car around. "If you keep causing trouble, I won't take you next time."
"Okay..." Tian Xi reluctantly loosened her grip a little, but still swayed gently with the rhythm of the car.
Back at the hotel, after parking the car, Tian Xiwei jumped down. When she took off her helmet, her hair was a mess, like a cat with its fur standing on end.
"Go inside and finish your homework first, don't procrastinate until midnight again." He knew that this girl had brought her homework with her during winter break, but she always liked to put it off and never did it. In the past, she would always rush to finish her homework in the last few days.
"Okay, okay, Feng-ge, you're even more nagging than my mom!" Tian Xi complained, wrinkling her nose slightly, but still nodded obediently. "Homework every day, it's so annoying."
"You'll know it's not annoying when you get punished by the teacher after school starts." He ruffled her hair.
"No way!" Tian Xi made a face at him and ran into the hotel.
When Tian Xiwei returned to the room, Liu Haochun had just finished her basic dance practice and was sitting on a yoga mat wiping away sweat. She was wearing a black practice outfit, with a thin layer of sweat on her forehead, and her hair was neatly tied back, revealing her smooth forehead.
"Where did you go?" Liu Haochun looked up at her, his eyes filled with curiosity.
Tian Xiwei took off her coat, flopped onto the bed, and said with a smile, "Brother Feng took me for a ride on his electric scooter to Binjiang Road to see the night view. It was so beautiful!"
"Oh." Liu Haochun lowered his head.
Tian Xiwei continued excitedly, "Brother Feng is such a good rider! He's much more stable than I was this morning! We were even talking about how he used to give me rides on his bicycle when we were kids, back when popsicles only cost 50 cents..."
"Haochun, do you want Feng-ge to take you there too?" Tian Xiwei finally noticed that she hadn't spoken and asked casually, "He just said he's free tonight."
Liu Haochun paused for a moment, then quickly shook his head: "No need, I want to look at the script tonight, and... I don't really like going out at night."
"Oh, okay." Tian Xiwei didn't think much of it, took out her homework from her schoolbag, lay down on the table and started writing, humming a song as she did so, clearly in a very good mood.
Downstairs, after parking my electric scooter, I headed towards the barbecue restaurant when my phone rang. It was a message from my mother: "Has Weiwei finished her homework? You need to keep an eye on her."
"I just reminded you, you should be writing it now."
