Traveling to ancient times, with space

Chapter 21 Refugees

Chapter 21 Refugees

Su Lao Er was enjoying his meal, telling Su Yue what he needed to improve next time, when he heard several children making a fuss at the door, along with the sound of stones hitting the door.

The Su family was so engrossed in their meal that they had no time to care about the unruly kids outside.

But the door was being smashed louder and louder; how could the Su family's dilapidated door withstand the destruction caused by the brat?

Those eating inside heard a loud crash as the door collapsed.

The children outside the door were initially frightened and took a few steps back, unsure of what to do.

At this moment, Wang Xiuying's two sons, Wang Tieniu and Wang Tiedan, saw the collapsed gate and their first thought was that they could go to the Su family's house to eat meat.

The two children rushed into the Su family's courtyard like cannonballs. When the other children saw this, they were no longer afraid and followed behind.

Wang Xiuying watched everything unfold from behind her front door. She saw her two sons rush inside and thought that it would be her turn to step in to prevent her sons from being bullied.

The moment they heard the gate collapse, Su Erbao and Su Xiaobao put down their empty bowls, rushed out into the yard, grabbed whatever sticks they could find, and started beating the children indiscriminately.

He had only one thought in his mind: he couldn't let those kids in anymore. If they ran into the backyard, it would be terrible; he would definitely lose his life.

Now anyone who dares to steal their meat is their enemy.

The neighbor's child, perhaps trying to escape Su Erbao and Su Xiaobao's sticks, was trying to run to the backyard.

Just then, Su Yue came out and saw it. She went over, grabbed the child, slapped him a few times on the bottom, and then threw him out the door.

Uncle Su and Aunt Su also knew that the meat in their backyard couldn't be discovered by the village, otherwise it might be stolen.

They also came out of the house and shooed the other children out; they wouldn't hit them.

Children can hit other children.

Su Dabao ran out of the house, disregarding the fact that he was a scholar and could not resort to violence. He beat up all the children who rushed into the yard and threw them out the door.

Within minutes, the deafening cries of a child outside the Su family's house could be heard.

Su Yue was so exasperated by the crying that she snatched the thick wooden stick from Su Erbao's hand, broke it in half in front of the wailing children, and threw it at the nearest child.

Su Yue's actions frightened the child so much that he dared not cry.

“If anyone comes to my door crying again, I’ll make sure they suffer the same fate as this wooden stick.”

Wang Xiuying's eldest son, Wang Tieniu, is the oldest among her children, two years older than Su Yue.

He didn't believe Su Yue would dare to hit him, so he encouraged the child closest to him: "She wouldn't dare, let's cry together and make all the adults cry."

Before the child could even cry out, Su Yue slapped him hard across the face.

Then they dragged Wang Tieniu out, pulled down his pants in front of all the children, and slapped him several times, leaving his white buttocks swollen and bruised.

“Who still wants to cry?” Su Yue pointed at the children in front of her.

Wang Tieniu had his pants pulled down in public. He dared not cry, and his face turned almost liver-colored with shame and indignation.

In this ancient era, children could separate their households at the age of fourteen and marry and have children at the age of sixteen.

A boy who was almost thirteen years old was publicly beaten by a girl who was even younger than him, with his pants pulled down. This was more humiliating than being killed.

The other children, witnessing this scene, were so frightened that they stopped crying.

Wang Tieniu covered his buttocks and ran home.

He bumped into Wang Xiuying, who was about to come out to help, and Wang Tieniu started complaining to his mother.

Then he ran inside to complain to Old Mrs. Wang.

Seeing this, Su Yue threatened, "If any of you dare to cause trouble at my house, I'll strip you naked and beat you like this!"

Upon hearing this, the children shook their heads in fright and ran home faster than rabbits.

The Su family girl is truly terrifying.

Su Yue didn't want the villagers to cause trouble every time she ate meat, so she stood at the door and shouted loudly: "Dear aunts and uncles, I hope this is the last time your children will cause trouble. Otherwise, as soon as you cook, I will go back to your house."

If you want to eat meat, go find it on the hill behind the house. Don't come crawling over like a leech just because you smell meat at someone else's house.

If I, a child, can go up the mountain to find it, why can't you adults go look for it? Don't tell me the child is ignorant and ran away on his own. I, Su Yue, don't believe that.

"And whose child damaged my front door? I want to see compensation from you before dark. If you don't, we'll be coming to visit each of your houses one by one."

After saying this, Su Yue turned and went back into the house.

The children who ran back to their homes no longer dared to cry and beg for meat in front of the adults.

I'm really afraid that if my parents went to the Su family, they would also be stripped of their pants and beaten.

Even the most shameless adults who wanted to go out and stand up for their children were too embarrassed to do so after Su Yue's words.

They all suffered in silence at home.

Uncle Su almost wanted to applaud Su Yue.

Aunt Su followed behind Su Yue, spat on the ground, and cursed, "That's right, if any little brat doesn't keep an eye on things and comes here to cause trouble, don't blame us for going to their house. Bah. A bunch of shit-eaten bastards, daring to cause trouble at my old lady's house."

As it grew dark, the children from the families who had caused the disturbance still hadn't brought any compensation.

In the evening, while everyone was building an earthen stove in the backyard, Su Yue filled a water vat with water.

When Uncle Su came to cook, he discovered the problem but dared not ask. He pretended nothing had happened and went to wash the bones and meat.

That evening, the Su family stewed another pot of bone broth, making everyone so hungry they wanted to rush over and snatch it from the Su family.

After the meal, the whole family went to rest.

Until midnight, the Su family got up like thieves and lit a fire to smoke the meat.

Uncle Su and Aunt Su assisted with the work, while Su Erbao tended the fire.

Su Dabao guarded the front yard, and Su Xiaobao guarded the back yard.

They worked until dawn, and only half of the meat was smoked.

For two days in a row, Su Yue did not go to town. During the day, she studied reading with Su Dabao, and at night she went to her space to work for two hours before resting.

The rest of the Su family would go to the mountains during the day to find wild vegetables and other edible things.

Only Su Dabao was at home teaching Su Yue to read.

A new round of smoked meat will begin in the evening.

Two days passed quickly.

Su Yue was woken up by the heat in the morning. When she came out, she saw that the sun was high in the sky, scorching the earth.

After washing up, she let Su Erbao drive the mule cart to take her and Su Dabao to town.

As we left the village, the sight of the CBD at the village entrance nearly made the villagers' jaws drop.

Everyone gathered together and started discussing when Su Lao Er's family bought the mule cart, and soon the whole village knew about it.

There were those who were jealous, those who were envious, and even more who were dissatisfied.

The mule cart was much faster than walking, and it took only an hour to reach the town.

Along the way, Su Yue noticed many people dressed in tattered clothes.

Some were pushing carts, all with their families, as if they had fled from famine.

There were people like this on my previous visits, and even though I haven't been here for just a few days, there are so many of them in town now, one every few dozen meters.

Some even directly blocked passersby, and those who were stopped were all robbed until they were left with only their clothes.

During her visits to the town, Su Yue knew that her town was on the edge of the country, separated from another country by only a large river.

All the way, Su Yue told Su Erbao not to stop and to go straight to the town.

Upon arriving in town, Su Yue led the two directly to a noodle stall.
