Chapter 430 Failed to Steal Business
Chapter 430 Failed to Steal Business
"Sir, should we prepare for today in the same way as yesterday?" Fang Da asked.
Wen Luozhi remembered that Grandma Mi had said yesterday that there was a market here on the 3rd, 6th, and 9th of each month, and today, with the 19th, there should be more people.
"Prepare more, isn't today market day?"
"If we can't sell them all, we'll try other streets."
The group prepared half again as much stuff as yesterday and went to yesterday's stall, but when they got there they found it was already occupied.
"Come and see! Come and buy! Freshly made pan-fried pancakes, cheap and delicious!"
When they were just a few steps away, a middle-aged woman shouted, and upon seeing them, she seemed to shout even louder.
"White flour pancakes, white flour pancakes, stuffed with meat!"
The middle-aged man next to me was also shouting, and there were indeed people asking in front of the stall.
"How much are these?" a man asked, pointing to what he couldn't tell was meat or something else.
He remembered that they sold pancakes here yesterday, but after inquiring, he found out they were a bit expensive, so he didn't eat any.
I couldn't sleep because of the smell when I got back, and this morning I actually came across a meat-filled pancake vendor.
“Five coins! Five coins for the whole dish,” the man in the middle replied with a smile.
The man's eyes darted around. Five coins?
I imagine the taste should be about the same, right? Anyway, you can eat meat, and more importantly, it's cheap.
"Give me the five-cent one, I want to try the whole dish."
Upon hearing that the whole dish only cost five coins, half the price of what Wen Luozhi and the others were selling, I was surprised to find that it was only five coins.
The people who were waiting for them all arrived in front of the new stall.
There were five to do at once, and the middle-aged woman started to get a little flustered. The man next to her didn't help her at all; instead, he was bragging to the other people who asked questions.
The first man who had finished cooking had already paid, but when he received the food, he was furious: "Why is yours just dregs? There aren't even any whole pieces, how is anyone supposed to eat this?"
The man tossed the item aside and said, "Make me a new one, one that can be rolled up."
He looked menacing, and the woman trembled in fear, glancing at her husband before daring to start over only after he nodded.
The second one looked much better, which satisfied some of the men. However, when he took a bite, he was completely stunned. "Where's the egg? And what's this stuff wrapped in?"
He picked it up and took a closer look. It was dark and unidentifiable inside, and the flour wasn't white; it had something mixed in.
Looking at the items on the stall again, he immediately regretted not checking carefully before ordering them, and even more so, he regretted paying the money in advance.
The vegetables were just some pickled shredded vegetables, and the meat looked dirty and raw, I don't know what kind of meat it was.
"Ugh!" The others noticed it too, and just one look at what he was holding told them it wouldn't taste good and looked terrible.
"Hey brother, where would you find eggs for five coins? An egg costs three coins! You'll have to pay another three coins if you want it."
The middle-aged man had already reached out his hand, but the other man, enraged, crushed the pancake in his hand to pieces. "Are you kidding me?!"
He said something in a gloomy tone, then grabbed the middle-aged man by the collar and demanded a refund.
"No, no, no! Don't touch it! If you think it's too expensive, just don't eat it. You've already eaten it, so making two for you is already a loss for us."
A middle-aged woman stepped in to mediate the fight, and others nearby said, "Let it go, theirs don't smell good and they don't look good either. Consider it a lesson learned."
The man snorted coldly, shoved the person aside, cursed, and left.
The people in front of the stall dispersed, and the middle-aged man kept calling out to everyone without turning around.
On the other side, Wen Luozhi and her group had already found a stall and set up their tent.
When Wei Yi passed by that stall just now, he carefully examined the things they had prepared, and they were not comparable to his own at all; they were not even worth mentioning.
He picked up the small wooden board from yesterday and started hawking his wares. Fang Da and the others didn't show any dissatisfaction at having their stall and business taken away.
This surprised Wen Luozhi, who thought to herself that the others were quite composed.
Fang Da hadn't uttered a single word since they started looking for a new place, but he finally couldn't hold back any longer once the charcoal was ready.
"I'm so angry! Shameless bastard!"
How can you steal their territory? Not only did you steal it, but you also sell the same things as them, and at half the price!
If the price is the same, everyone should rely on their own abilities, but isn't this just blatant provocation?!
Wen Luozhi, kneading the batter in her hands, said unhurriedly, "Calm down, calm down. Nobody paid for this stall, anyone can set one up."
"I don't believe their food can taste as good as ours."
As soon as she finished speaking, someone came over. Wen Luozhi looked up and saw that it was her uncle from yesterday and his half-grown grandson.
"Boss, give me one of everything except the all-meat one, and wrap the rest up to take away."
The uncle had prepared the coins at home and handed a string of coins directly to Fang Er.
Today, a sweet sausage was added to the all-meat meal, and the child stomped his feet while eating it.
"Grandpa, this is even better than yesterday!" The grandfather and grandson each took half as usual, and the uncle also thought it was quite good after taking a bite.
"I went to the same place yesterday to look for you but couldn't find you. All the people there have changed."
"Their place was cheap, but it didn't look very good. Luckily, I heard from someone that I found it by following this route."
He had only said a few words when Wei Yi's jianbing guozi was already made and wrapped up. Wen Luozhi and he had only exchanged a few words when Wei Yi's hawking voices attracted people over.
"So you guys were here all along! I wouldn't have known if you hadn't called out a few times!"
The person who came to buy yesterday smiled and ordered a whole dish. Seeing a low stool that was empty, he sat down and waited.
His portion was ready in no time, and since he had nothing else to do, he ate it right there at the stall.
Wei Yi's mouth was even more powerful than yesterday, and he not only attracted repeat customers but also brought a lot more people over today because of the large number of people at the market.
The stall was even busier than yesterday, and the people taking turns doing the work weren't tired at all.
Helian Zhiyan and Songyin, the two little ones, were also busy today, helping to divide the oil paper in half and roll it up.
"Boss, didn't you say this stuff sells well? Why is nobody here?"
The middle-aged woman was frantic, standing in front of the blackened pot. Her husband glared at her and said, "It's all because you can't cook it right!"
He craned his neck to look down the street, then turned and said, "You wait here, I'll see what they do."
After walking a few steps, he turned back and instructed, "Even if someone tries to fool me, you have to sell it for five coins!"
The woman shrank back and nodded, filled with regret.
I should have known better than to follow her example. She was exhausted from getting up early this morning, and no one was there to help her.
They work themselves to the bone and still no one buys it. What's wrong with noodles and meat?
When the man arrived at Wen Luozhi's group, he found a long queue already formed. He tried to move forward, but the person behind him pulled him down, saying, "Why are you cutting in line? If you want to eat, go to the back and wait in line!"
The man, though furious, dared not speak out and walked to the very back, clenching his fists.
Although being at the very back didn't stop him from smelling that alluring fragrance.
He sniffed, looking quite pleased; it must have eggs and meat...
There are also some things he can't smell at all, or has never smelled before; he can only tell what people are carrying when they walk past him.
