Chapter 245 Yang Xuexue Returns Home
Chapter 245 Yang Xuexue Returns Home
On the third day of their marriage, the sun shone gently on the earth, draping the whole world in a warm, golden veil. Yang Xuexue and Liu Qicheng, the newlyweds, began preparing early in the morning for their visit to Yang's parents' home. Yang Xuexue was busy in front of the mirror, fiddling with her hair and adjusting her clothes, her earnest demeanor as if she were attending a grand awards ceremony.
"Honey, take a look! How's my outfit? Is it too flashy?" Yang Xuexue turned around and looked at Liu Qicheng expectantly.
Liu Qicheng was sitting on the edge of the bed tying his shoelaces. He looked up at her and nodded perfunctorily, "She looks good, she looks good in anything."
"Hmph, you're just trying to fool me." Yang Xuexue pretended to be angry, stepped forward and gently patted Liu Qicheng. "Today is my home visit, you can't let me down, you have to leave a good impression on my parents."
"Don't worry, honey, your husband is a veteran of countless battles. This is nothing." Liu Qicheng stood up and patted his chest confidently.
After getting ready, the two left home carrying bags of gifts. Along the way, Yang Xuexue chattered incessantly like a cheerful little bird, reminiscing about her childhood memories of her parents' home and reminding Liu Qicheng to be careful about this and that once they arrived. Liu Qicheng drove, responding with a smile, his heart also filled with anticipation for this homecoming.
Finally arriving at Yang Xuexue's parents' home, before even entering, Yang Xuexue shouted at the top of her lungs, "Mom, we're back!"
Upon hearing the sound, Yang's mother hurriedly came out of the house to greet them, her face beaming with joy: "Oh my, my precious daughter and son-in-law are back! Come in, come in!"
Yang Xuexue hopped over to her mother like a little rabbit, took her arm, and said sweetly, "Mom, I missed you so much."
Liu Qicheng quickly stepped forward and respectfully called out, "Mom." Then he handed over the gift in his hand, saying, "Mom, this is a gift we brought for you."
"Oh, it's good that you're back. Why bring any gifts? The fact that you two are safe and sound is the most important thing." Yang's mother said, but her smile grew even wider as she took the gifts. "Come in quickly, dinner is almost ready."
Once inside, Yang Xuexue looked around, and the familiar surroundings filled her with warmth: "Mom, the house is still the same as always, nothing has changed."
"Silly girl, what changes could there be?" Yang's mother said with a smile. "You all sit down for a while, I'll go and bring up the last dish."
"Let me help you, Mom." Liu Qicheng quickly followed Yang's mother into the kitchen.
Before long, the table was filled with food, all of which looked and smelled delicious. The three of them sat around the table, and Yang's mother kept putting food on Yang Xuexue and Liu Qicheng's plates, saying, "Eat more, try Mom's cooking, and see if you've gotten any worse."
Yang Xuexue took a bite and exaggeratedly gave a thumbs up: "Mom, your cooking skills are getting better and better. It tastes even better than what chefs in restaurants make."
"You're so sweet-talking," Yang's mother said with a smile. "By the way, how have you two been doing these first three days of your marriage?"
Yang Xuexue blushed and said reproachfully, "Mom, why are you asking this?"
Liu Qicheng answered frankly, "Mom, we're doing great. Xuexue keeps the house in perfect order and takes excellent care of me."
"That's good. I was worried that you two would quarrel over small things since you've just gotten married. Couples need to be tolerant and understanding of each other." Yang's mother said, "
"Mom, don't worry, Xuexue and I will definitely be loving and affectionate," Liu Qicheng assured, patting his chest.
"Oh, right, Mom, I have something funny to tell you." Yang Xuexue suddenly remembered something, her eyes sparkling. "Last night, Liu Qicheng was talking in his sleep, it was so funny."
"Oh? What did you say?" Yang's mother asked curiously.
"He was yelling, 'I want to eat braised pork, and nobody can take it from me!'" Yang Xuexue laughed so hard she almost fell over. "He woke me up; I thought a thief had broken into the house."
Liu Qicheng's face instantly turned red, and he scratched his head awkwardly: "Oh dear, this... this must be because I didn't eat enough braised pork during the day, and I was still thinking about it in my dreams at night."
Yang's mother couldn't help but laugh: "You child, you even dream about food. But speaking of which, Xuexue, you should cook more delicious food in the future to win over his stomach."
"Mom, don't worry, I will definitely take good care of him," Yang Xuexue said with a smile. "But he's a foodie, he loves to eat everything."
"I call this loving life, you know?" Liu Qicheng said seriously. "Food is one of life's greatest pleasures."
"Okay, okay, you're right." Yang Xuexue smiled and rolled her eyes at him. "By the way, Mom, how have you been feeling lately?"
"I'm perfectly healthy, so don't worry about me," said Yang's mother. "You two just need to take good care of yourselves while you're out there."
"Mom, if you feel unwell, you must tell us," Liu Qicheng said earnestly. "With such good medical conditions now, any illness can be cured."
"Okay, okay, you two stop nagging," Yang's mother said with a smile. "Let's eat quickly, the food is getting cold."
While eating, Yang Xuexue suddenly remembered something: "Mom, do you still have those photos of me when I was little? I want to take them out and look at them."
“Yes, they’re all in that big box,” said Yang’s mother. “I’ll find them for you after we finish eating.”
"That's great! I haven't watched this in years. It must be really interesting," Yang Xuexue said excitedly.
"Oh right, Mom, I also want to see Xuexue's award certificates from when she was little. I've never seen them before." Liu Qicheng joined in the fun.
"You want to see it? Of course we have it. Xuexue was a top student when she was little," Yang's mother said proudly. "She always brought home awards for her exams, and the walls of our house were covered with them."
"Really? Wife, you've really been hiding your true abilities." Liu Qicheng looked at Yang Xuexue with admiration in his eyes.
"Of course, I was a very good student when I was a child," Yang Xuexue said proudly. "Unlike some people, who were definitely naughty and mischievous when they were young."
“I call that being lively and energetic,” Liu Qicheng retorted, unconvinced.
"Alright, alright, you two stop bickering," Yang's mother said with a smile. "After dinner, I'll find all those things and let you take a good look at them."
After dinner, Yang's mother went to the room and rummaged through the drawers and cabinets. Before long, she brought out a large box filled with photos of Yang Xuexue when she was a child and her certificates of merit.
Yang Xuexue couldn't wait to open the box, picked up a photo, and laughed until tears almost came out: "Mom, look at this photo, how could I have been so chubby when I was little, like a little meatball."
Liu Qicheng leaned over for a look and couldn't help but laugh: "Wife, you were so cute when you were little, you were like a Michelin tire baby."
"You're still laughing at me." Yang Xuexue pretended to be angry, picked up a photo and threw it at Liu Qicheng. "Look at you when you were little, dressed like a little country bumpkin."
Liu Qicheng took the photo and looked at it carefully: "This isn't a country bumpkin, this is fashion, you don't understand."
"Fashionable? I think it's just tacky," Yang Xuexue said with a laugh.
The two looked at the photos and bickered back and forth, while Yang's mother watched from the side with a happy smile on her face.
"Oh, right, Mom, I remember once when I was little I didn't do well on a test, and I was afraid you'd scold me, so I hid my report card." Yang Xuexue suddenly remembered this and couldn't help but laugh.
“Of course I remember,” Yang’s mother said. “I only found out later when the teacher called me. I was wondering why you’ve been so well-behaved lately; it turns out you had something to hide.”
"Hehe, I was afraid you'd hit me," Yang Xuexue said shyly.
“How could I hit you? I just want to have a good talk with you and see where you haven’t learned well,” Yang’s mother said. “You’ve always been a competitive child, always wanting to do your best in everything.”
"Mom, I know you're doing this for my own good," Yang Xuexue said coquettishly, leaning against her mother. "Looking back now, I was so naive when I was little."
“Everyone is like that when they’re young. When you grow up, you’ll find those things really interesting,” Yang’s mother said. “Now that you two are married, you should be just as happy as you were when you were young.”
"Mom, don't worry, we definitely will," Liu Qicheng said. "When we have children in the future, we will tell them about these fun things."
"That would be wonderful," said Yang's mother with a smile. "I'm really looking forward to holding my grandson."
"Mom, aren't you in too much of a hurry?" Yang Xuexue blushed. "We just got married."
"No rush, no rush, just let nature take its course," said Yang's mother. "As long as you two are happy, I'll be content."
The three chatted for a while longer, and before they knew it, it was getting late. Yang Xuexue and Liu Qicheng should go home too.
"Mom, we have to go." Yang Xuexue stood up and said with some reluctance, "Take good care of yourself at home, and call us if anything happens."
"Okay, take care on your way." Yang's mother saw them to the door and said, "Come back and visit often when you have time."
"Mom, you can go back now, we're leaving," Liu Qicheng said.
The two got into the car, and Yang Xuexue rolled down the window and waved to her mother: "Mom, goodbye."
The car slowly started moving, and Yang Xuexue gazed out the window at her parents' home, her heart filled with longing. This day of returning home was filled with laughter and joy, making her feel the warmth and happiness of home. She knew that no matter how long the road ahead, her parents' home would always be her strongest support and her warmest harbor.
