Tavern of the Spear: Desire for Pleasure

Chapter 110 Attacked

Chapter 110 Attacked

Cheng Yu sat bolt upright in bed, his forehead covered in fine beads of sweat, his chest heaving as if he had just been through a fierce battle. He gasped for breath, his eyes filled with anger and confusion.

"Damn it!" he cursed under his breath, abruptly threw off the covers, jumped out of bed, and headed straight for the corner where the giant egg was stored.

He scooped up the mysterious giant egg, held it high above his head, and glared at it fiercely, as if he wanted to devour it alive. "You fucking bastard! Just say what you have to say! Don't be a riddle-maker!" he roared, his voice echoing in the tent. "Don't think I don't know you came into my dream to talk to me! You egg, if you don't speak, I'm going to smash you!"

Cheng Yu's commotion quickly woke Xing Luo and Bai Yu from their sleep. The two groggily got out of bed and walked towards Cheng Yu. When they saw Cheng Yu holding the giant egg, looking as if he was about to smash it on the ground, they were immediately terrified and all sleepiness vanished.

"Cheng Yu! What are you doing!" Bai Yu exclaimed and rushed forward to stop Cheng Yu's crazy actions.

"Cheng Yu, calm down! Don't be impulsive!" Xing Luo hurriedly tried to dissuade him. "Let's talk this out, don't do anything foolish!"

Cheng Yu knew he couldn't smash the giant egg; he had simply lost his temper in his dream. He was truly fed up with these riddle-tellers (except for his master). With Bai Yu and Xing Luo's encouragement, he took a deep breath and slowly placed the giant egg back in its original position.

"Phew..." He let out a long breath, and the anger in his heart gradually subsided.

"Cheng Yu, are you alright?" Bai Yu asked with concern. "What... happened to you just now?"

"I..." Cheng Yu opened his mouth, but didn't know how to explain. Should he tell them that he had a bizarre dream, a dream of a golden ocean and a white dragon talking to him? And that the white dragon was spouting nonsense about being a "chosen one" and "saving the world"?

As for whether he can save the world, Cheng Yu certainly doesn't think he can save the world. Even if he could, given his personality, he wouldn't save the world unless it affects his interests. Otherwise, why would he do something that has nothing to do with himself?

“I’m fine,” he shook his head. “It was just a nightmare.”

"Nightmare?" Xinglu frowned. "What kind of nightmare could scare you like this?"

“I…” Cheng Yu hesitated for a moment, but decided to tell them about his dream, “I dreamed of a golden ocean and a huge white dragon…”

He told Bai Yu and Xing Luo everything he had seen and heard in his dream.

"A golden ocean? A giant white dragon?" Bai Yu and Xing Luo looked at each other, their eyes filled with doubt.

“What…what does this mean?” Xinglu asked.

"I don't know either, it's really giving me a headache right now." Cheng Yu shook his head. "That white dragon couldn't explain himself clearly... saying I was some kind of 'chosen one,' and that I was going to save the world... Do I look like someone who can save the world?"

"The chosen one? Save the world?" Bai Yu repeated, his brows furrowing even more. "This...this is too far-fetched! Anyone who says something like that must be out of their mind. I'd rather believe a pig saves the world than believe you."

"Yeah, but can you please not compare me to a pig?" Cheng Yu said, somewhat speechless, then shook his head and said helplessly, "I also think it's ridiculous, but... that white dragon spoke with such conviction, as if it were really true."

"Did...did that white dragon say how to save the world?" Xinglu asked.

“He said… when the time comes, I will naturally know. Hearing this, I really felt like throwing up. Do you know how many people have said this to me? In the ancient ruins of the Northern Werewolf Tribe, there was a guy who called himself the Dream God, then Bai Yu’s master, and then this Shark Pen White Dragon,” Cheng Yu said.

"Timing..." Bai Yu coughed awkwardly, "I think my master makes a lot of sense. Maybe we really need to wait for the right moment, like when your partner is about to kick the bucket?"

"I don't know, I don't think so. And can you please stop joking about this?" Cheng Yu shook his head helplessly. "I'm really fed up with these riddle-solving people. They don't say anything. I'm not Sherlock Holmes, how am I supposed to guess?"

"Huh? Who is Sherlock Holmes? Is he very amazing?" Xingluo and Baiyu asked at the same time.

"Haha~ A very impressive legendary figure, in short, extremely intelligent, a very skilled detective..." Cheng Yu smiled somewhat awkwardly, trying to avoid the topic.

Seeing Cheng Yu's expression, the two stopped asking questions. Perhaps this was a famous detective from Cheng Yu's hometown, and it was perfectly normal that they didn't recognize him.

"Then... what should we do now?" Xinglu asked.

“I don’t know either,” Cheng Yu sighed. “That white dragon said that all I need to do is… be myself.”

"Be yourself?" Bai Yu and Xing Luo were even more confused. "What does that mean?"

“I don’t know either,” Cheng Yu said helplessly. “That’s what he said.”

Just as the three were racking their brains trying to figure it out, suddenly, a sharp whooshing sound came from outside the tent!

"Watch out!" Cheng Yu and Bai Yu shouted almost simultaneously, tackling Xing Luo to the ground.

The moment they lay down, several sharp arrows shot in from the top of the tent, grazing their scalps and embedding themselves deeply in the ground!

"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"

Several more arrows came flying, and Cheng Yu and Bai Yu quickly rolled on the ground with Xing Luo in their arms to dodge the arrows.

"Who is it?!" Bai Yu roared, "Who launched a sneak attack from outside?!"

"Hmph! The ones who will take your lives!" A cold voice came from outside the tent.

Immediately afterwards, several white dragon beastmen draped in white gauze and whose faces were hidden in the shadows burst through the tent, wielding sharp blades, and charged toward Cheng Yu, Bai Yu, and Xing Luo!

"Protect Xingluo!" Cheng Yu shouted, and together with Bai Yu, they rushed forward.

A fierce battle unfolded inside the tent!

Although Cheng Yu and Bai Yu were powerful, they were somewhat hampered by their duty to protect Xing Luo. Meanwhile, the white dragon beastmen were clearly well-trained assassins, agile and well-coordinated, causing Cheng Yu and Bai Yu considerable trouble.

"Pfft!"

An arrow grazed Cheng Yu's arm, leaving a bloody gash.

"Damn it!" Cheng Yu cursed under his breath, then punched a white dragon beastman to the ground.

"Bai Yu, watch out!" Xing Luo exclaimed.

Suddenly, a white dragon beastman circled behind Bai Yu and stabbed his blade fiercely into Bai Yu's back!

"clang!"

At the critical moment, Cheng Yu arrived just in time and kicked the blade out of the white dragon beastman's hand.

"Phew..." Bai Yu breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Cheng Yu."

“Don’t mention it,” Cheng Yu said. “We’re all in the same boat now, and we have to help each other.”

"Okay!" Bai Yu nodded. "Let's go together and take care of these guys!"

"Alright!" Cheng Yu responded, and together with Bai Yu, they charged towards the white dragon beastmen once again.

After a fierce battle, Cheng Yu and Bai Yu finally defeated all the white dragon beastmen.

"Huff... huff..." Cheng Yu and Bai Yu were both panting.

They all thought to themselves that, in terms of physical strength alone, they were indeed too weak.

"Who...who are these guys?" Bai Yu asked. "Why did they attack us? Don't they know we're their leader's guests?"

“I don’t know,” Cheng Yu shook his head, “but they’re definitely coming for us.”

"We?" Xingluo pointed to himself. "Does that include me?"

“Of course,” Cheng Yu said, “we are a team now, and they are going to deal with all of us.”

"But...we don't seem to have offended anyone, haha~maybe..." Xinglu said doubtfully, but she became a little embarrassed when she said the second half of her sentence.

"Perhaps... we inadvertently touched upon the interests of certain people," Cheng Yu said.

"Interests?" Bai Yu frowned. "What interests?"

“I don’t know,” Cheng Yu shook his head, “but I think I’ll find out soon.”

“You’re right. We’ll just find the leader and ask him. I don’t believe we won’t get any answers.” Bai Yu wiped the blood off his fist and smiled at Cheng Yu.

“Yes,” Cheng Yu nodded, “I believe he is also a wise dragon, otherwise he could not have become the leader.”

"Stop talking for now, let's deal with these White Dragon Assassins first!" Bai Yu knocked down another assassin with a punch. It seems he wasn't too afraid of the assassins' attacks, otherwise why would he be talking while hitting them?

“Okay,” Cheng Yu said, “These white dragon orcs are just small fry. I think the real enemy is yet to come.”

"Then... what should we do now?" Xinglu asked.

"We'll meet force with force and water with earth," Cheng Yu said. "We just need to do our job well."

"Just do our best..." Xinglu murmured to herself.

“That’s right,” Cheng Yu nodded. “Just like that white dragon said, all we need to do is… be ourselves.”

“Be ourselves… I understand!” Xingluo nodded thoughtfully.

“Alright,” Cheng Yu said, “let’s deal with these guys first.”

"Okay." Bai Yu and Xing Luo responded and began to deal with the white dragon beastmen who had been knocked to the ground.

Meanwhile, in the elders' quarters not far from the tent, the elder and his son were anxiously awaiting news.

"Father, do you think... they can succeed?" the young white dragon beastman asked.

“It should be…okay,” the elder said. “Since they are the leader’s guests, and the leader is in such a hurry, the enemy must be very strong. So I think we just need to go and collect the bodies of those assassins later.”

“But… is this all there is to it? I still feel a little uneasy,” the young white dragon beastman said.

"Uneasy?" The elder frowned. "Why?"

“I don’t know either,” the young white dragon beastman shook his head, “It’s just a feeling…”

“Don’t overthink it,” the elder said. “Perhaps you’re just worrying too much.”

"I hope so..." the young white dragon beastman said.

Just then, a white dragon orc rushed in.

"Elder! Elder!" he shouted as he ran.

"What's wrong?" the elder asked. "Did you fail to complete the mission?"

"No...no...ah?" the white dragon beastman gasped for breath, but his expression quickly turned to surprise. "The elder was indeed a brilliant strategist, we...we failed..."

"Haha~ Of course!!" The elder and his son looked at the assassin with completely normal expressions. "If he succeeds, that would be truly strange. Those three guys didn't run into any problems, did they?"

“Those three outsiders… their strength… is too great…” the white dragon beastman said, “We… we are no match for them at all… and they’re just chatting away…”

"This... they really don't take it seriously!" the elder said casually. "It's good that nothing's happened, it's good that nothing's happened. If something had happened, we would be finished!"

"Huh? Elder, what are you talking about? I don't understand." The white dragon scratched his head, looking at the elder with a bewildered expression. He had originally come back expecting to be punished, but it seemed that it was a good thing he hadn't succeeded.

The white dragon assassin suddenly remembered something, "But...they seem...they seem to know the leader..."

"It's perfectly normal for them to know the leader, after all, they are the leader's guest." The elder and his son remained calm. "Alright, alright, let's go apologize to them now, or it won't be good!"

"Huh? What exactly is the elder saying..." the white dragon beastman said softly, then looked at the white dragon elder and asked, "But... what should we do now?"

"What should we do... Didn't I tell you to go and apologize to them? Are you deaf?" The elder frowned, then pondered for a moment. "Now that things have come to this, we can only... we can only apologize to the leader. Otherwise, what else do you want me to do? Fight both of them by myself?"

"Apologize?" The white dragon orc assassin's eyes widened. "Elder, you...you are an elder of the tribe! Why should you apologize to the chief?"

“You don’t understand,” the elder shook his head, “The strength of those three people is far beyond our imagination. If we don’t apologize in time, it could bring annihilation to the tribe!”

"A catastrophe?" The white dragon orc assassin gasped. "That serious?"

"I'm afraid... it's even more serious than this..." the elder sighed. "Let's go, let's go now."

“Yes, Father.” The young white dragon beastman beside him nodded.

So the father and son hurriedly left the Elders' Council and headed towards the guards' quarters where the leader was located.

"I hope... I hope it's not too late..." the elder prayed silently as he walked.
