Chapter 108 The Poor Leader
Chapter 108 The Poor Leader
Although the White Dragon chieftain was burning with rage, he was not foolish. He could clearly sense the powerful aura emanating from Cheng Yu and Bai Yu, a power he could not possibly withstand. As for Xing Luo, although he appeared harmless, being able to travel with these two strong individuals meant he was likely no ordinary person either. Therefore, he could only suppress his anger and think to himself, "As long as they don't come to overthrow the rule of my White Dragon tribe, everything else... is tolerable."
So, under the "enthusiastic" invitation of Cheng Yu and his companions, the White Dragon leader had no choice but to "willingly" give up his tent, and then slunk out. As soon as he stepped out, he saw the guard with a constipated expression—the very same guy who had brought Cheng Yu and the others in earlier. The guard was painfully scratching his throat with his claws, as if trying to vomit something up; he looked even more miserable than if he had swallowed a live fly.
"What's wrong with you?" the White Dragon leader asked, frowning. "You look like you've eaten shit."
Upon seeing their leader, the guard immediately stood bolt upright as if struck by lightning. Ignoring the churning in his stomach, he hurriedly recounted the entire incident. It turned out that he had drunk the so-called "magic potion" Cheng Yu had given him, but nothing had changed; in fact, it had nearly made him vomit.
"Chief...I...I feel...I'm going to die..." The guard's voice was choked with sobs, and his once handsome dragon face was now twisted beyond recognition.
The White Dragon chieftain rolled his eyes in exasperation, cursing inwardly, "Sure enough, my men are all idiots! If it weren't for me, this White Dragon tribe would probably have been swallowed up by other tribes long ago!" He sighed, then looked back at the tent that had once belonged to him, his heart filled with helplessness and resentment. In the end, he could only shake his head and turn to leave.
"Sigh, looks like I'll have to squeeze into a guest room tonight." The White Dragon leader muttered to himself as he walked. "Hopefully those guys don't damage my tent, or I'll have nowhere to stay."
Meanwhile, inside the tent, Cheng Yu and his two companions were marveling at the enormous dragon egg.
"Is this the special white dragon beastman?" Xingluo curiously poked the eggshell with his finger. "It doesn't seem that special."
"What do you know?" Cheng Yu rolled his eyes at Xing Luo. "This is a dragon egg that concerns the fate of the entire world. How can it be the same?"
"So what do we do now?" Bai Yu asked. "Are we just going to wait here?"
"What else?" Cheng Yu shrugged. "We can't just cook it and eat it."
"Haha, you really dare to think that way!" Bai Yu was amused by Cheng Yu's words. "But we can't just sit here and wait, it's too boring."
"So what do you want to do?" Cheng Yu asked.
"Why don't we go out for a walk?" Bai Yu suggested. "We're just killing time anyway, and we might discover something interesting."
“Alright,” Cheng Yu nodded. “However, we need to be careful not to get discovered by those white dragon beastmen, or we’ll be in a lot of trouble.”
So the three of them quietly slipped out of the tent and began to wander around the White Dragon tribe.
The nights in the White Dragon Tribe are completely different from those in the Bear Tribe. There are no campfires, no noise, only tranquility and peace. Occasionally, a few White Dragon Orcs can be seen patrolling the streets; they are all dressed in uniform, carrying spears, and look very imposing.
"The white dragon beastmen here seem to be quite law-abiding," Xingluo said softly.
“After all, it’s the White Dragon Tribe,” Cheng Yu said. “They must have their own rules.”
“However, I always feel there’s something strange about this place,” Bai Yu said, frowning. “Don’t you think it’s…too quiet?”
"Isn't quiet good?" Xingluo retorted.
“It’s not that it’s bad,” Bai Yu shook his head, “it’s just… too quiet, which makes people feel a little uneasy.”
"Don't overthink it," Cheng Yu patted Bai Yu on the shoulder. "We're just out for a stroll, not here to fight a war."
The three continued walking and, before they knew it, arrived at a spacious square. In the center of the square stood a tall statue, shaped like a white dragon with outstretched wings, ready to take flight.
"What is this?" Xinglu asked curiously.
"It must be their totem," Cheng Yu guessed.
"A totem?" Xinglu tilted her head. "What kind of totem is this?"
"I don't know either, it looks pretty good..." Cheng Yu was about to explain when suddenly a voice interrupted him.
"Who are you? Why are you here?"
The three turned around and saw a young white dragon orc standing behind them, looking at them warily.
"We..." Cheng Yu was about to speak when Bai Yu spoke first.
“We are travelers,” Bai Yu said. “We were passing by and saw that this statue was beautiful, so we came to take a look.”
"Travelers?" The young white dragon orc frowned. "How come I've never seen you before?"
“We come from a very far place,” Bai Yu continued, “of course you’ve never seen us before.”
"Really?" The young white dragon beastman seemed somewhat skeptical. "Then what are you doing here?"
"We..." Bai Yu was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to answer.
“We’re here to find someone, and we’re also guests of your leader,” Cheng Yu suddenly said. “If you don’t believe me, you can go and ask the leader directly. We’ve come here specifically to visit you, so you’d better not interfere too much.”
"You think I'll believe everything you say?" The young white dragon beastman paused, then demanded, "Show me some evidence?"
"This..." Cheng Yu hesitated for a moment, "Your leader isn't here, how can we prove it?"
"Can't prove it?" The young white dragon orc narrowed his eyes. "You wouldn't happen to be... bad guys, would you?"
"Of course not!" Cheng Yu quickly denied. "We're good people!"
"A good person?" The young white dragon beastman sneered. "Would a good person sneak up here?"
“We didn’t sneak around!” Xingluo couldn’t help but say. “We came in openly and honestly!”
"Openly and honestly?" The young white dragon beastman pointed behind them. "Then how did you get in? Did you fall from the sky?"
“We…” Xinglu was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to explain.
"Alright, stop wasting time talking to them," Cheng Yu said. "Let's go."
He pulled Xingluo and Baiyu up, then turned and left.
"Halt!" the young white dragon orc shouted. "You can't leave!"
He drew his long sword from his waist and stood in front of the three men.
"What do you want to do?" Cheng Yu frowned.
"I'm going to arrest you!" the young white dragon beastman said. "You must be bad people!"
"We're not bad people!" Xinglu shouted. "We're good people!"
"Whether someone is good or bad isn't up to you to decide!" the young white dragon beastman said. "Come with me!"
"Why should we go with you?" Cheng Yu retorted. "You're not our leader."
"I..." The young white dragon beastman was speechless for a moment, "I...I am the guard here! I have the right to arrest you!"
"A guard?" Cheng Yu laughed. "You, a mere guard, dare to be arrogant in front of us?"
"I..." The young white dragon beastman was startled by Cheng Yu's imposing aura and involuntarily took a step back.
"Alright, stop wasting time talking to him," Cheng Yu said. "Let's go."
He pulled Xingluo and Baiyu up, bypassed the young white dragon beastman, and continued walking forward.
"You...you mustn't go!" The young white dragon beastman cried out in alarm and hurriedly chased after them.
"Stop right there! If you don't stop, I'm not going to be polite!"
"Come on then if you dare!" Xingluo turned around and made a face.
"You...you all..." The young white dragon beastman trembled with anger, yet he was helpless.
He knew he was no match for those three.
"Damn it!" He stomped his foot angrily. "I must tell the chief about this!"
He turned and ran back to the chief's tent, only to find that the chief was not inside.
"Where is the chief?" he asked a maid who was cleaning a tent.
“The chief has gone out,” the maid replied. “He said he was going to clear his head.”
"To relax?" The young white dragon beastman was taken aback. "Where did he go to relax?"
“I don’t know,” the maid shook her head. “The master didn’t say.”
"Damn it!" the young white dragon orc cursed. "What do we do now?"
After thinking about it, he decided to go find his father.
His father was one of the elders of the White Dragon tribe, and a highly respected elder.
"Father, where are you?" he called out as he ran.
"I'm here, what's wrong?" An old voice came from not far away.
The young white dragon orc looked in the direction of the sound and found his father sitting on a stone bench, leisurely drinking tea.
“Father, I…” He ran to his father’s side and told him everything that had just happened.
"Oh?" The elder put down his teacup after hearing this. "You mean, three strangers have broken into the tribe, and they're quite suspicious?"
“Yes, Father,” said the young white dragon orc, “I suspect they are bad people!”
"Bad people?" The elder laughed. "What makes you think they're bad people?"
“Because…because they’re sneaking around and they won’t tell us where they’re from!” the young white dragon beastman said.
"Sneaking around?" The elder shook his head. "Did you see them sneaking around with your own eyes?"
"I..." The young white dragon beastman was momentarily speechless, "I didn't see it with my own eyes, but..."
“No buts,” the elder interrupted him. “Don’t make things up without evidence.”
“But, Father…” The young white dragon beastman wanted to say something, but was interrupted again by the elder.
“Alright, I understand,” the elder said. “I will handle it.”
"Then... what do you plan to do?" the young white dragon beastman asked.
"What should we do?" The elder smiled. "Of course, we should... wait and see."
"Wait and see?" The young white dragon beastman was stunned. "Father, what do you mean?"
"What I mean is, let's not act rashly," the elder explained, "let's see what they're up to."
"But..." the young white dragon beastman was still somewhat uneasy, "What if they really are bad people?"
"Don't worry," the elder patted him on the shoulder, "I'm here, nothing will happen."
“Alright…” the young white dragon beastman nodded. “Then… I’ll head back now.”
"Yes, go ahead." The elder waved his hand.
The young white dragon orc turned and left, while the elder continued to sit on the stone bench, leisurely sipping his tea.
“Three strangers…” he muttered to himself, “That’s interesting…”
A glint of shrewdness flashed in his eyes.
P.S.: I'd like to recommend my new novel, "Tales of the Beast Realm." It's a collection of short stories, with each volume exceeding 50,000 words and each chapter exceeding 10,000 words. Please give it your support!
