Chapter 33 Taking You Fishing
Chapter 33 Taking You Fishing
A week later, Chen Che appeared on Zhu Jingdong's desk on time and handed him a rather substantial plan, which was at least not a thin few pages, giving the impression that his attitude was not good.
Zhu Jingdong had only casually flipped through a few pages when he noticed that each chapter contained detailed text, abundant photos, and vivid charts. Even the photos were numbered according to their respective chapters, making it look like a thesis. This made him take it more seriously.
It even includes specific estimates of revenue, gross profit, and net profit at the current scale, as well as the projected market size, which shows a lot of effort.
After spending another five minutes or so browsing through it, I gave a preliminary evaluation: "Although there are still some minor flaws, it is very detailed and much better than I expected."
As everyone knows, the key to the turning point lies in the second half of the sentence. Zhu Jingdong's evaluation put Chen Che at ease, as it was something he had made someone like him, who dreads writing documents, work on for a whole week.
If it gets rejected, wasting some time and effort is a minor issue; we'll have to come up with other options for "Make Some Fries".
"Send me the electronic version later, I'll take a look and revise it, then send it to the school," Zhu Jingdong said after thinking for a moment.
"Okay, thank you, teacher." Chen Che respectfully expressed his gratitude.
When Chen Che left the office, his steps were unusually light, and he even took the classic clown gait when going downstairs.
So much so that he bumped into Chen Sui, who was going upstairs, in his blind spot.
Chen Sui stumbled and almost fell. She rubbed her arm, which had hit the armrest, and dropped the materials in her hand all over the floor.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, class monitor." Chen Che apologized repeatedly, picked up the A4 paper from the ground, and handed it to Chen Sui. Their fingers touched, and Chen Sui quickly pulled her hand back.
"Shouldn't you compensate me?" Chen Sui said, dissatisfied.
"What kind of compensation?" Chen Che was taken aback.
"Hmm, treat me to sauerkraut fish." Chen Sui's eyes darted around as she replied.
"The cafeteria food is all pre-made. The freezer has old blackfish slices that are frozen for years. I ate some last time and they weren't even cooked. Not only was the meat raw, but the two slices were stuck together and hadn't been cooked at all." Chen Sui's words only stirred up painful memories for Chen Che.
"Oh...is that so?" Chen Sui said regretfully.
"However, there is still a way." Chen Che changed the subject.
"Ah, what method?" Chen Sui asked curiously.
"Why don't you fish by yourself? Or come fishing with me later, okay?"
"Huh? But Mirror Lake is all fenced off, and it's really not very safe."
"Who said Mirror Lake is the only place on campus where you can fish? Besides, that lake isn't very big... well, there's not much to do there."
"I recently discovered a pond on campus, which is definitely a great place to fish for black fish."
"Hmm..." Chen Sui hesitated.
"Don't worry, I have professional equipment this time, it definitely won't malfunction."
"Hmm... okay, I'll trust you this once."
In the late afternoon, as evening approached, Chen Che was eating sunflower seeds with the security guard in the guard room of the boys' dormitory when he received a message from Chen Sui.
What clothes are convenient to wear?
Chen Che thought for a moment and replied that wearing a skirt would be fine.
Not long after, Chen Sui came out of the girls' dormitory.
Instead of her usual single ponytail, she wore two braids that hung down to her collarbone. She wore a gray vest over a white shirt, jeans, and sneakers.
Seeing Chen Che sitting in the security room, she waved to him and then casually tucked her stray hairs behind her ears.
Chen Che came out, holding a fishing rod in one hand and handing the fish basket to Chen Sui with the other.
"Should I take it?"
"Well, you have to put in some effort to eat fish."
"Okay, but why didn't you use your perfectly good fishing rod before?"
"It's not mine. I borrowed it from the old man when I offered him a cigarette."
"Oh, you smoke?" Chen Sui's face was full of surprise, which then turned into a faint worry and displeasure.
"I don't smoke, it's just more convenient when I need to run errands," Chen Che explained.
"Oh, then it's better not to smoke. It's harmful to your health." Chen Sui wrinkled her nose.
"Let's go, if we're lucky we can make it in time for a late-night snack."
Chen Che led Chen Sui eastward to a place they would never normally visit, explaining that it was hot during the day, with temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius at midday, making people too lazy to move, let alone fish.
When the sun is about to set in the afternoon and the temperature drops, it's a good time to strike.
After walking for a while, they finally saw a cluster of houses. This was a talent apartment complex. Across the road was a pond full of aquatic plants, and there was a reed bed on the bank. Chen Che stopped there.
"Here?"
"Um."
Chen Che observed carefully for a while, found a good spot, and then took out the lure and put it on the hook.
At this point, the curious child asked, "Why is the bait a piece of plastic? Shouldn't it be something like small fish, shrimp, or earthworms?"
"Yes, those are also possible, but we call this method lure fishing, which uses artificial lures more often. Snakehead fish are quite aggressive, so you can lure them with artificial lures and they'll take the bait."
"Oh." Chen Sui nodded thoughtfully, then added, "Those people who do lure fishing are such jerks, using a plastic sheet to lure the fish. The fish are so pitiful, getting caught but not getting anything to eat."
"Uh..." Chen Che was speechless and chose to focus on fishing.
Chen Sui watched Chen Che intently as he cast and reeled in his fishing rod, not daring to disturb him. She simply observed him quietly, her eyes fixed on the water, her brows slightly furrowed, as she gently lifted and lowered the fishing rod.
Nothing happened until the fishing rod was lifted up.
The two looked at each other. Chen Che looked completely innocent, while Chen Sui, seeing that all her efforts had been in vain, couldn't help but want to laugh.
Chen Che glared at him: "Don't laugh, you have a mouth."
After saying that, he cast his line again, aiming at the boundary between the grassy area and the open water. This time, it didn't take long before Chen Che shouted to himself, "Here it comes!"
The fishing line suddenly tightened, and Chen Che swung it around a few times before pausing slightly. He then swung it around a few more times, and soon a blackfish was firmly pulled up.
After removing the hook and using the fish gripper, the fish was still wriggling energetically in the air. Chen Che estimated that it must weigh at least two and a half pounds, enough for a plate of sauerkraut fish.
"Wow!" Chen Sui's eyes lit up. "We really caught a fish!"
Just as she was about to lower herself to protect him, Chen Che waved to her: "Don't rush."
"What's wrong?"
"This should be a small, shallow-water fish," Chen Che explained.
"What do you mean?" Chen Sui asked curiously.
Chen Che brought the fish closer to Chen Sui and said, "Look at this fish, it's thin and long. It's probably a mother fish with her babies. If you catch her, the babies will either be eaten by other fish or starve to death if no one takes care of them."
When Chen Sui took a look, it was indeed similar to what Chen Che had said; the blackfish was indeed long and thin.
"Let's release it first; there's still plenty of time. We can catch one more."
"Oh, oh."
Then, more than half an hour passed, and not a single bite was taken.
Damn, there can't be only one fish in the water, right?
Damn it, I should have released the fish beforehand instead of showing off, at least I could have gotten at least a minimum catch.
"We're not going to do *that* today, are we?" Chen Sui asked, watching Chen Che's expression gradually turn from relaxed to serious.
"What's that word... again?"
"Oh! Empty..." Chen Sui thought about it seriously and finally remembered.
"Shh, don't say it, or we'll be part of the Vacuum Army."
"Uh, you said it yourself."
"Depend on."
