Chapter 112 The Bottom of the Sword Spring
Chapter 112 The Bottom of the Sword Spring
Yun Ruoyu was clearly tempted. She quickly glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then said to Yue Feng, "Alright then... but only once! Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to justify it."
Yue Feng knew exactly what she was thinking, so he immediately agreed and asked her what exactly was under the Sword Spring and why so many sect leaders of the Heavenly Sword Sect had failed.
Unfortunately, Yun Ruoyu was also unaware of this. It turned out that the Heavenly Sword Sect's rules stipulated that no one was allowed to reveal the situation at the bottom of the Sword Spring. Those who challenged the trial could only rely on their true martial arts skills.
Yue Feng was speechless at the strange rules of the Heavenly Sword Sect, but there was nothing he could do about it. He squatted down by the spring, scooped up a handful of water, and found that apart from being a little clearer, it was not much different from spring water in other places.
Perhaps the water in this sword spring is just extremely deep? If that's the case, Yue Feng is confident that with his internal strength, he can at least give it a try.
Seeing Yun Ruoyu staring intently at him with her beautiful eyes, he smiled and said, "Sect Leader Yun, would you please excuse me? I'm about to take off my clothes."
"Oh, oh!" Yun Ruoyu hurriedly turned around, covering her eyes with both hands. Yue Feng stripped down to his underwear, revealing his well-toned muscles, and slowly stepped into the sword spring.
Behind him, Yun Ruoyu secretly turned around. Although her hands were still covering her face, her two bright eyes peeked out from between her fingers.
Yue Feng arrived at the center of the Sword Spring and glanced down. He saw a pool of deep blue water, its depth unknown. Feeling his body gradually adapting to the water's temperature, Yue Feng took a deep breath and slowly submerged himself.
He channeled the internal energy within his Giant Spirit Golden Body, controlling the consumption of his energy to an extremely low level. Under these conditions, he could not perform any strenuous movements, but he could greatly extend the time he could remain underwater.
He continued to descend using this internal energy technique, and as the depth increased, less and less light penetrated from the surface. Although Yue Feng's martial arts were high, he didn't have night vision, and his vision gradually faded into unknown darkness.
Having lost his sight, Yue Feng could only spread his arms and grope around in the water. Suddenly, his fingertips touched a rock at the bottom of the spring. He searched around the rock for a long time but found nothing, and began to doubt whether the sword manual Yun Ruoyu had mentioned really existed.
He looked around somewhat blankly, when suddenly he was drawn to a faint light in the distance. Sensing something was amiss, he swam over and discovered that there was a horizontal passage at the bottom of the Sword Spring, and the light was coming from the end of that passage.
The passageway contained not only a light source but also a reverse current. As Yue Feng drew closer to the light source, the resistance from the reverse current increased.
Yue Feng felt that only 30% of his internal energy remained. Could 30% of his energy reach the source of the light? And if he did, could he find the sword scripture? Even if he found it, could he return safely? He was uncertain about all of these things. But he never liked to give up halfway, and without the slightest hesitation, he went against the current.
After a difficult trek, Yue Feng finally reached the end of the path. There stood an enormous piece of cold jade, silently emitting a faint glow in the deep darkness. On top of the jade sat a dark, heavy box, seemingly cast from some kind of metal.
Yue Feng suppressed his overwhelming joy and held the black box in both hands. Suddenly, countless streams of cold energy, somewhat similar to Ge Changqing's Guanghan Gong true energy but tens of thousands of times purer and more intense, surged out from the cold jade and rushed into Yue Feng's body along the black box.
Yue Feng hurriedly mobilized the true energy of the Giant Spirit Golden Body to resist the strange chill. However, he had just undergone a long underwater dive, and his internal energy was almost depleted, thus greatly reducing the power of the Giant Spirit Golden Body.
He knew something was terribly wrong, so he picked up the black box, pushed off hard with his feet on the cold jade, and swam rapidly outwards along the dark current.
The chilling aura emanating from the jade was wreaking havoc on his meridians, gradually invading his dantian. Before Yue Feng could even swim to the bottom of the Sword Spring, he felt a sweet taste in his throat and fainted.
By the Sword Spring, Yun Ruoyu waited patiently for a long time, but Yue Feng still didn't come up, so she couldn't help but feel a little worried.
She wanted to go into the water to find him several times, but was restrained by the rules of the sect and dared not go. Seeing that the sun was setting and Yue Feng still hadn't come up, Yun Ruoyu couldn't sit still any longer. She took off her outer clothes and was about to go into the water.
The moment her toes touched the water's surface, a series of small bubbles suddenly appeared in the center of the Sword Spring. A dark shadow followed the bubbles and quickly rose to the surface. Yun Ruoyu took a half-step back in fear, and Yue Feng's stiff, curled-up body floated to the top of the spring.
His face was ashen, his teeth clenched, and drops of blood continued to seep from his mouth. He clutched a heavy, dark iron box tightly to his chest. Yun Ruoyu was terrified. Without even putting on her clothes, she jumped into the water to try and pull Yue Feng ashore.
The moment her slender fingers touched Yue Feng's body, she felt an icy chill to the bone, and quickly activated her sect's Guanghan Gong (a martial arts technique). The wisps of cold air merged with her Guanghan Gong's true energy, circulating through her meridians before completely becoming one.
Yun Ruoyu didn't have time to perceive the changes in her own true energy. She dragged Yue Feng ashore and reached out to press his pulse.
With a single press, Yun Ruoyu's face turned deathly pale. The eerie, chilling energy within Yue Feng's body was vast and boundless, already approaching the edge of his Qi Sea. Once a martial artist's Qi Sea is breached, at best their martial arts will be completely destroyed, and at worst, they will die.
When Yun Ruoyu recalled that when she met Yue Feng earlier, she seemed to have used the Guanghan Skill to draw away a wisp of cold energy from his body. She immediately sat cross-legged next to Yue Feng and placed her hands on Yue Feng's Qihai (a point on the back of his head).
She channeled her energy for about half an incense stick's time, but felt that this was still too slow and could not guarantee Yue Feng's safety.
In her panic, she inexplicably remembered a breathing exercise manual she had found in a hidden compartment of her master's desk when she was learning martial arts. Her master later discovered she had read the manual, and in a fit of rage, berated her and threatened her never to utter a word about it…
Memories of the past evoked feelings of nostalgia and sorrow in Yun Ruoyu, ultimately leading her to resolve to save Yue Feng's life no matter what.
She took the iron box from Yue Feng's arms, helped him lie down on the ground, and then lay down beside him. She felt her heart pounding wildly, and although she took several deep breaths, it was to no avail.
She slowly turned to the side and gently nestled against Yue Feng. She circulated her internal energy again, and a strange chill rushed into her body, causing Yue Feng's body to visibly relax.
Knowing that this would be effective, Yun Ruoyu mustered her courage and rolled onto Yue Feng. The unconscious Yue Feng seemed to know she was trying to save him, and instinctively opened his arms to embrace her slender waist.
Yun Ruoyu felt a sudden rush of heat in her mind, as some mysterious heat completely melted her body.
