Chapter 564 Mary and Yuri
Chapter 564 Mary and Yuri
The three hailed a Steel-Armored Raven taxi at the taxi stand in Gongmen City.
The large bird, covered in steel feathers, landed steadily in front of them, with a cabin that could accommodate four people fixed on its back.
The driver, a middle-aged man with a full beard, grinned as soon as he saw Dan Di: "Hey, Champion Dan Di! Where did you get lost this time?"
"To Machine City." Dan Di opened the car door and got in without expression.
Li Luochen and Katishia followed closely behind.
The Steel-Armored Raven took flight, and the bustling cityscape of Palace City shrank rapidly beneath its feet.
A three-hour flight isn't that long.
Katishia leaned against the cabin window, admiring the scenery along the way, while Li Luochen closed his eyes to rest. Dan Di, however, dared not suggest that he should give directions.
Fortunately, the mechanic knew the way this time, and the journey went smoothly until the iconic giant gear outline of the Motor City appeared on the horizon.
The city of Jiqing was bustling with activity.
This industrial city, known for its steam and gears, is now transformed by the atmosphere of the league competition.
The streets were lined with colorful flags, and giant screens played highlights from previous league matches. Trainers arrived from all directions with their packs on their backs.
The air was thick with a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement.
After all, the league season is about to begin, and everyone is eagerly anticipating it.
Dandi led the two through the bustling crowd, explaining to Li Luochen as they walked: "Luochen, the League Tournament in the Galar region might have a different format than the one you're familiar with."
He held up one finger and patiently explained, "In other regions, trainers have to collect eight badges at various gyms to qualify for the League Tournament."
"But in Galar, it's the other way around. All trainers first attend the opening ceremony of the League Tournament, and then they officially set off to challenge the eight gyms."
"Only those who successfully collect all eight badges can return to participate in the next round of the competition."
Li Luochen raised an eyebrow slightly after hearing this.
This competition format is quite novel; it's like giving you a taste of the league's atmosphere before sending you out to gain experience.
Then, Dan added proudly, "So for us, the League Championship isn't just about the final rounds, it starts from the opening ceremony!"
"Can I participate too?"
Katishia raised her hand and asked.
She had been an observer the whole way, watching Li Luochen, Luozi, and Dandi discuss important matters. Now it was finally her turn to chime in.
"Of course." Dan Di nodded readily, without the slightest hesitation because she was a novice.
"Yay! I want to participate too!" Kathija cheered, clenching her fist and waving it in the air.
She turned to look at Li Luochen, her face full of eagerness: "Luochen, don't underestimate me. I might collect all eight badges before you."
Li Luochen raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips: "Then I'll be watching closely."
"Let me take you to the hotel to check in first. The opening ceremony will officially begin in a couple of days."
Dan Di said that this time they didn't need to call a taxi anymore.
The designated hotel for the league tournament in Machine City is near the registration point, within walking distance.
Along the way, many trainers recognized Leon and whispered among themselves, while a few bolder ones even took out their phones to secretly take pictures.
Leon didn't mind at all, and even gave a thumbs up to the camera, which excited the trainers.
Upon arriving at the hotel reception, Dante helped with the check-in process and handed the room keys to the two of them: "The Alliance will cover your food and lodging for the next two days, so you can just rest and recharge. There are many fun places to visit in Mech City, so feel free to go out and explore when you have time."
After he finished speaking, he checked the time and added, "However, I have to go back to the alliance to take care of some things first. You guys rest first, and contact me anytime if you need anything."
After Dandi left the hotel, Li Luochen and Katishia were preparing to go upstairs to their room.
The elevator doors opened on the first floor, and the two were about to step inside when they were blocked by the scene in front of them.
A group of cheerleaders dressed in punk-style uniforms blocked the elevator entrance. They were wearing studded leather jackets and exaggerated bright dyeing, and the pom-poms they held were not the usual sequined kind, but were covered with metal chains.
They stood in a row, completely blocking the elevator entrance, each with their arms crossed, glaring at the two of them with hostile eyes, clearly not wanting them to go upstairs.
"What's going on?" Kathiya muttered softly, instinctively taking a half-step back behind Li Luochen.
"I'll go ask."
Li Luochen recognized the outfit at a glance.
Isn't this Mary's support group, the Screaming Team?
"Hello, we need to use the elevator now, please make way," Li Luochen said politely.
The leader of the shouting team raised his chin, his tone leaving no room for negotiation: "No, our Miss Mary hasn't arrived yet, the elevator is temporarily out of service."
Li Luochen: "..."
To be honest, Li Luochen is very frustrated right now.
No sooner had Dandi checked in than he was blocked at the elevator entrance by a group of people. Anyone would be unhappy in that situation.
But since the other party had only blocked the elevator and hadn't physically assaulted or verbally abused him, and he couldn't find a suitable reason to lash out and beat them up, he could only take a deep breath and suppress his anger.
If this were in the Eastern Huang region, I would have already sent men to take them away...
"Hey~ I'm telling you, stop causing me trouble all the time."
A cool, clear female voice came from the hotel entrance.
Two glamorous figures walked in one after the other.
The one who spoke was the girl in the lead. She had fair skin, shoulder-length black hair that was slightly curled, and small braids tied on both sides with red ribbons. Her bangs covered half of her eyes, but they couldn't hide the indifference in her eyes.
She wore a studded leather jacket over a pink dress and studded ankle boots, exuding a cold and unapproachable aura.
Li Luochen recognized the other person as Mary.
Beside Mary was another girl dressed in a completely different style.
Her brown hair was also shoulder-length, and she wore a green, round, flat hat with a Scottish flair. She wore a burgundy dress under a beige wool coat, and green plaid socks peeked out from above her dark brown leather boots.
Her temperament was much gentler, and standing next to Mary, she was like a contrast between ice and fire.
Upon hearing Mary's words, the members of the shouting team immediately made way as if a switch had been flipped, their previous arrogant demeanor vanishing instantly as they obediently retreated to the sides.
"Yuri, I'm sorry you had to see this."
Mary then turned to the girl beside her and spoke, her tone still indifferent, but with a hint of helplessness in her words.
"It's nothing, it's nothing."
Yuri waved her hand, her eyes under the green hat curiously scrutinizing the two unlucky souls whose path was blocked.
Her gaze swept over Katishia first, and she nodded politely before landing on Li Luochen.
The next second, Yuri's eyes lit up, and she quickly walked up to Li Luochen, grabbing his hand: "Y-you! You're Master Li Luochen?!"
