Chapter 49 Thunderclap at Sea
Chapter 49 Thunderclap at Sea
The darkness before dawn is the deepest, with only the searchlights of rescue ships flickering on the waves.
Lin Mo's pressure-resistant diving suit was already badly damaged, and his oxygen reserves were zero. He was only able to stay conscious by sheer willpower.
When the rescue grappling hook caught his belt and pulled him out of the dark abyss, he felt like a skeleton pulled from hell.
"Quick! This way!"
Acha's voice was choked with sobs as several technicians hurriedly dragged him onto the deck. Lin Mo slammed heavily onto the cold steel plate, gasping for breath, his lungs burning with pain.
"Lin Mo! How are you? Su Ya... Su Ya, come here quickly!" A Cha shouted as she checked his vital signs.
Lin Mo struggled to prop himself up, his vision blurred as he looked toward the cabin door.
Suya stood there.
She wore a loose white nightgown, which looked as thin as a piece of paper that might tear at any moment in the morning breeze. In her hand, she clutched a glass of water that seemed to have gone cold, which she had prepared after staying up all night waiting for him to return.
The deck, which should have been filled with the joy of reunion, was now deathly silent.
Lin Mo opened his mouth, trying to force a reassuring smile: "Suya... I'm back. 'Noah'... is resolved..."
However, Suya didn't throw herself into his arms and cry as usual. Her eyes, which were always full of tenderness and dependence, were now terrifyingly empty. Her gaze wasn't focused on Lin Mo's scarred face, but rather fixed on the dark sea behind him—the sea that had just swallowed the "Deep Blue Tomb".
"No……"
Suya suddenly let out a very soft whimper, like a dying animal.
Lin Mo's heart sank. He turned around, following his sister's gaze.
The sea was empty. Only the rolling waves and the gradually whitening horizon could be seen.
"What's wrong? Suya, what's wrong?" Acha noticed something was wrong and asked anxiously.
Suya trembled violently, and the water glass in her hand shattered on the deck with a "crash." She raised a trembling finger and pointed at the void behind Lin Mo, her pupils contracting sharply as if she had seen the most terrifying thing in the world.
"They...came out..." Suya's voice was sharp and broken, filled with a deep-seated fear. "Brother...you didn't close...the door..."
Lin Mo's whole body stiffened.
He had clearly detonated the core, destroyed the server, and cut off all signal sources himself.
"What's coming out?" Lin Mo struggled to get up, grabbing his sister's shoulders. "Suya, look at me! What's coming out?"
Suya was forced to meet his eyes. In that instant, Lin Mo saw a blood-red ocean deep within her pupils. It wasn't a reflection; it was something... looking at the world through her eyes.
"Not the deep sea..." A thin line of blood trickled from the corner of Suya's eye. She murmured unconsciously, her voice turning cold and unfamiliar, completely unlike her own. "Cleansing...starting from the inside..."
"I am the container...I am the key..."
Lin Mo felt as if struck by lightning.
He was horrified to discover that the barcode mark beneath the skin on Suya's neck was emitting a strange, living, eerie blue light at a visible speed.
The light spread along her veins, like a poisonous flower blooming in the snow.
The deep-sea bomb did indeed destroy Noah's server.
However, the "backdoor" implanted in her body, the activation program that served as the core of the "perfect weapon," was activated by some unknown mechanism due to the violent explosion that occurred underwater.
The real "cleansing" is not a world-destroying virus, but...
Completely erase Suya's true nature as a "human being" and unleash the "monster" sealed deep within her genes.
"No...no!!!"
Lin Mo let out a heart-wrenching roar, tightly pulling his trembling sister into his arms, as if to shield her from the corrosive force emanating from the depths of her soul.
The rescue boat drifted alone in the faint light of dawn, the sea calm and still.
But on this small deck, a storm more desperate than a deep-sea explosion has silently begun.
