Chapter 57 The Gears of Fate Begin to Turn
Chapter 57 The Gears of Fate Begin to Turn
Zhou Yuji picked up the now-cold milk tea from the table, took a big gulp, and felt a mix of emotions as the sweet taste spread through her mouth.
But soon, she laughed again.
interesting.
That's so interesting.
Zhou Yuji loves watching dramas, especially those where "the blind date I introduced to my best friend ends up falling for my best friend's older sister."
She took out her phone and sent a message to her three best friends: "@Su Yiyi, I saw your Douyin post. It's pretty good, especially the third one with your back to the camera, it tells a story. But Yiyi, when did you get such good candid photography skills? Did you learn it from me?"
A few seconds later, Su Yiyi replied: "Yu Ji, don't talk nonsense, I just took a picture casually."
Zhou Yuji: "You think a casual snapshot can produce this kind of lighting effect? Do you think I'm a three-year-old? But seriously, Wang Bo's comment... tsk tsk, Yiyi, you'd better seize this opportunity!"
Su Xiaoxiao chimed in, "What comments? What are you guys talking about?"
Zhou Yuji sent the screenshot directly to the group.
Su Xiaoxiao sent a string of ellipses and then said, "Sis, this post of yours is... pretty sudden."
Su Yiyi: "I just suddenly felt like posting it."
Zhou Yuji: "Suddenly decided to post this? I think it's been planned for a long time! But Yiyi, I support you. Wang Bo is a promising talent; when the time is right, make your move! Don't hesitate!"
Su Xiaoxiao: "Yuji, that's enough, stop stirring up trouble."
Zhou Yuji: "How did I start this nonsense? I'm just concerned about my best friend's happiness! By the way, Yiyi, Wang Bo likes pork rib and yam soup, right? What should we make tomorrow? Do you want me to give you some remote guidance?"
The group chat became lively again, with the three women bickering and exchanging pictures until Su Yiyi said, "I have to go to class."
Putting down her phone, Zhou Yuji reopened her computer and looked at Wang Bo's two lines on the screen, "I find the green hills charming, and I suppose the green hills find me just as charming," and a smile appeared on her lips.
Xiao Wang, you really keep surprising us!
At 2 p.m. sharp, Su Yiyi appeared outside the recording studio of Xiaoyi Culture Media.
Today she wore a beige knitted dress with a light blue cardigan, her long hair flowing smoothly over her shoulders, and she was carrying a thermos. She looked as gentle as if she had stepped out of a painting.
The receptionist's eyes lit up when she saw her: "Teacher Su is here! Teacher Wang is in the recording studio. Would you like me to take you there?"
"No need, I can go by myself, thank you." Su Yiyi nodded with a smile, but her pace was a little faster than usual.
Upon reaching the entrance of the recording studio, she paused briefly before gently pushing the door open.
Inside, Wang Bo and Chen Mo were discussing something, both staring intently at the computer screen.
Hearing the door open, Wang Bo turned around and his eyes lit up when he saw Su Yiyi.
"Teacher Su is here." He stood up and naturally took the thermos from her hand. "Thank you for your help again today."
"It's no trouble at all," Su Yiyi said softly, "I'm going that way anyway."
Chen Mo, standing to the side, adjusted his glasses and tactfully said, "Well, I'm going to the restroom. You guys chat."
He slipped away quickly, leaving only Wang Bo and Su Yiyi in the recording studio.
The atmosphere suddenly became somewhat awkward.
Wang Bo opened the thermos, and a rich aroma wafted out. He ladled out a bowl and handed it to Su Yiyi: "Teacher Su, have some too."
"I've already had my drink," Su Yiyi shook her head, sat down on the high stool next to her, and looked at the computer screen on the control panel. "How's the school song coming along?"
"It's almost done," Wang Bo said while sipping his soup. "Brother Chen adjusted the arrangement, and it sounds much better now. Would Teacher Su like to hear it?"
"OK."
Wang Bo clicked play, and the demo of the school song flowed from the monitor speakers.
Su Yiyi listened very attentively. When she heard the chorus, her eyes widened slightly, and her fingers unconsciously tapped her knees lightly in sync with the melody.
When the song ended, she turned to look at Wang Bo, her eyes full of admiration: "Very good, even better than I imagined. This song will definitely touch many people."
Wang Bo smiled and said, "Thank you for the compliment, Teacher Su."
"It's not a compliment, it's the truth." Su Yiyi paused, her voice softening slightly, "You always manage to surprise people."
Looking into her gentle eyes, Wang Bo's initial unease vanished.
He put down his soup bowl and said earnestly, "Teacher Su, actually I..."
Before she could finish speaking, the recording studio door was suddenly pushed open, and Su Xiaoxiao rushed in.
"Wang Bo, about Starlight Media..." She started to say, then paused, noticing her sister was also there. "Sis, why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
Su Yiyi blushed slightly: "I've come to bring the soup."
Su Xiaoxiao looked at her sister, then at Wang Bo, and smiled. "Oh, bringing soup? You guys continue, I'll come back later."
As she was about to leave, Su Yiyi quickly called out to her, "Xiaoxiao, if you have something important to say, then say it."
Su Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow: "Really not necessary?"
"Really, no need." Su Yiyi's tone was gentle but firm.
Su Xiaoxiao then walked back in and handed the tablet computer to Wang Bo: "Starlight Media has sent over the draft contract for 'The Battle of New Voices.' I've looked at it, and it's basically fine, but there are a few details I need to confirm with you."
Wang Bo took the tablet and quickly started browsing.
Su Xiaoxiao had already told him about the competition that morning. Wang Bo could tell that although Su Xiaoxiao said it depended on his opinion, she actually hoped that he would participate.
Wang Bo himself felt it was a good idea, so he decided to participate.
We should still try to get official qualifications.
Su Yiyi watched quietly from the side, occasionally offering a professional opinion. The two sisters worked together seamlessly and quickly clarified the key points of the contract.
"Then it's settled," Su Xiaoxiao put away her tablet. "The first recording is coming up soon, so you need to finish the school song assignment as soon as possible. Oh, by the way, the production team asked if you can sing 'Encounter,' and if not, you'll have to submit another one."
Wang Bo thought for a moment: "That's too unoriginal. I'll submit another song, which will definitely not be worse than 'Encounter'."
"So confident? Okay, you handle it." Su Xiaoxiao glanced at the time. "I have a meeting, I have to go. Sis, you..."
"I'll be leaving soon," Su Yiyi said.
Su Xiaoxiao nodded and made sure to close the door behind her when she left.
The recording studio fell silent again.
Wang Bo turned to look at Su Yiyi and found her looking at him with gentle eyes and a faint smile on her lips.
"Teacher Su," he suddenly asked, "about that post you made today..."
"Huh?" Su Yiyi's heart skipped a beat.
"The photos are great," Wang Bo said with a smile. "I don't even know when you took them."
Su Yiyi breathed a sigh of relief, but was also a little disappointed: "I just took a quick picture."
"So, the gears of fate have begun to turn?" Wang Bo looked at her earnestly. "Does Teacher Su believe in fate?"
Su Yiyi was silent for a few seconds, then said softly, "I didn't believe it before, but now... I'm starting to believe it."
Why?
"Because if it weren't for fate," Su Yiyi looked up, "we might never have met."
Looking into her gentle yet firm eyes, Wang Bo recalled their first meeting when she sat in the restaurant, like a tranquil classical painting.
I remember the soup she brought me every day, and the way her eyes lit up when she talked about music...
