Chapter 1878 My son is only 2 years old, what does he know?
The carpenter's yard was very large, with piles of trees cut down from the mountain on the left side, and sawdust everywhere on the ground, which would fly around in the wind.
There was a canopy on the right, inside which were piled up half-finished products, such as tables, chairs, benches, rolling pins, and so on.
There was no one in the courtyard, but the voices of several people could be heard coming from inside the main hall.
The village chief turned around and glanced at Zhang Ran and Fu Qin, explaining, "They're both inside."
Upon entering the main room, there were several people, some standing and some sitting. Apart from a fat woman, the rest were all men.
"Village Chief." The carpenter, who had been sitting, stood up, his gaze passing over the village chief to the two people behind him. He recognized Fu Qin, but not Zhang Ran. After glancing at her a few more times, he looked away and asked the village chief, "Is this the new teacher, Teacher Zhang?"
The others also greeted the village chief, their eyes all focused on Zhang Ran and Fu Qin.
The adult man's scrutinizing gaze made Fu Qin slightly uncomfortable, and she subconsciously moved closer to Zhang Ran.
"Hello everyone, I'm here to help carry the coffin," Zhang Ran explained with a smile.
The village chief immediately chimed in, "I called him." Turning to Zhang Ran, he added, "These others were also called by me to carry the coffin." His gaze then fell on the carpenter. "Where's the coffin?"
"It's in the small room, come with me." The carpenter started walking towards the small room, when suddenly a slap rang out behind him, followed by an angry question: "What are you doing!"
He instinctively turned around to look.
Fu Qin blushed with shame and anger, and slapped a strange man across the face. This man had deliberately gone around to her back and touched her buttocks!
"Why did you hit my son?!" The carpenter rushed over and questioned him angrily.
"Your son?" Fu Qin looked at the man who had been beaten in disbelief. He was taller than her. How could he be the carpenter's son?
"How could you hit someone?!" The fat woman rushed forward, shielding her tall, strong son behind her, glaring fiercely at Fu Qin. "He's just a child! How can you be a teacher?!" She then turned her anger towards the village chief, demanding, "Is this the new teacher this year? How can someone who hits people like this be a teacher?"
Fu Qin's eyes reddened as she was pressured by the family of three, and tears of grievance welled up in her eyes.
Zhang Ran reached out and put her arm around Fu Qin's shoulder, pulling her into her embrace and gently comforting her, "What did he do?" She sensed someone coming around behind her, but didn't know what had happened.
"He touched me." Before Fu Qin could finish speaking, tears streamed down her face.
The carpenter and his wife's expressions suddenly changed.
"I didn't! Waaah!" Shi Hu buried his head in his mother's arms, like a bear seeking comfort.
The carpenter's anger dissipated, replaced by embarrassment. He quickly tried to smooth things over, saying, "This must be a misunderstanding." He then pretended to scold his son, "Tiger, quickly apologize to the teacher. Did you accidentally bump into the teacher just now?"
The carpenter's wife was heartbroken to see her son crying. She glared at Fu Qin and angrily rebuked her, "My son is only twelve years old. What does he know? How can you, a teacher, slander people like this?"
"He did it on purpose!" Fu Qin retorted, feeling wronged.
Zhang Ran gently patted her back twice, pulled her behind her, and smiled at Shi Hu, saying, "12 years old, in the 5th grade, right? I happen to be teaching the 5th grade."
Upon hearing this, the carpenter and his wife's expressions immediately changed. Seeing Zhang Ran's attitude in defending Fu Qin, the carpenter's wife immediately reached out and grabbed her son's ear, "Quickly apologize to the teacher!"
The carpenter also warned his son with a fierce look.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Shi Hu apologized reluctantly, his words extremely perfunctory.
