"Hello?" Aurelia answered the call.Caspian Parker's voice came through the line. "Aurelia, are you free at noon? You haven't had lunch with your big brother in ages. Come out and eat with me at noon."
Aurelia glanced at the man behind her. "I'll talk to the crew in a bit."
Mason Nightshade's brows furrowed in displeasure. "You're not eating with me at noon?"
On the other end, Caspian's eyebrows arched. "Mason?"
Aurelia: "...Yeah, it's him."
"You two… got back together?" Caspian asked hesitantly. He still remembered the look on Aurelia's face when she came to M Nation from Country Z—that kind of resolute expression was definitely not the kind you'd expect from someone who'd eat their words and go back.
"Sort of. Right now I'm the one chasing him," Aurelia said.
Caspian let out a laugh on the other end; she couldn't tell if it was a cold laugh or something else. He said, "Then have him come out with you at noon."
"Huh?" Aurelia glanced at Mason.
Mason's brows were tightly knitted. Because he'd just eavesdropped and casually chimed in, Aurelia had snatched the phone over and held it herself, and turned the volume down, so he couldn't hear what the other person was saying.
Caspian chuckled. "What? Worried I'll make things hard for him?"
Aurelia snorted. "As if. I actually really hope you can help me vet him a bit. That's what I wanted back then anyway."
Caspian's heart gave a little jolt. He really had failed this little sister of his all these years. "Then at noon, bring him along. Let's meet at the Sofi Grand Hotel."
"Okay." Aurelia agreed without hesitation.
Mason's brows were still furrowed. What on earth were those two talking about? That Caspian guy better not be trying to stir things up and lure this girl away from him again, right?
This girl had never had much resolve to begin with, and she always listened to Caspian. What if she wavered again?
While Mason was busy overthinking, Aurelia suddenly turned around, tossed the phone to him, and said, "We're having lunch with my brother at noon, the three of us together."
Mason froze for a second, then the corners of his lips lifted into a smile. "Does this count as meeting the family? Didn't you say you're chasing me? You haven't even caught me yet and you're already dragging me off to meet your family? I'm not doing something that much of a losing deal."
Mason sat down on the sofa, long legs crossed.
"Then I'll just go have lunch with my brother by myself at noon," Aurelia said softly.
She had just finished speaking when she was yanked down onto the sofa.
Mason twisted his body, flipping over and pinning her beneath him. He stared down at her through clenched teeth. "You give up that easily? And you say you're chasing me. How are you going to catch me like this? Hm?"
Why did he suddenly seem a bit like a whimpering little wolfdog who'd been wronged?
Aurelia habitually ruffled his hair. "Then what do you want? Weren't you the one who said you weren't going?"
Mason really wanted to grind his teeth to dust. He shot Aurelia a fierce glare, then, sulking, clamped down on the woman's soft lips, nibbling and rubbing at them.
Aurelia lifted her arms, wanting to push him away. Mason caught her slender wrists and squeezed them lightly, and with his other hand he grabbed her chin and angled it up, making their kiss even deeper.

Mason finally let Aurelia go, breathing hard.
Aurelia panted heavily, her brows drawn together, her cheeks flushed pink as she glared angrily at Mason.
Mason's heart rippled under her glare. He thought, How can someone even look this good when they're mad?
So he lowered his head and stole another kiss, then lifted the corner of his mouth in satisfaction. "Sweet."
"Get off me," Aurelia muttered.
"I'm not getting off," Mason said shamelessly, sprawled on top of her.
"Mason, how can your skin be this thick?" A vein twitched on Aurelia's forehead.
How had she ever thought he was cold and aloof and fallen for him in the first place?
