Chapter 1339 - 1334: This Slap Is for the Lost Baby! (2000+)
"Get out of the way!" Nicholas Croft coldly reprimanded, as Hannah Hargrave imitated Julia Zabinski by spreading her arms to block the only exit of the bedroom.Staring resolutely into Nicholas Croft’s cold eyes, "I won’t move. If you want to leave, you’ll have to step over me!"
Nicholas Croft...
Just as he was about to pull Hannah Hargrave aside, Sophie Foster acted first, stepping forward and giving Hannah a slap with considerable force, causing her face to turn.
"This slap is for Uncle’s deceased baby!"
Before Hannah could react, Sophie delivered another slap. "This slap is for Sophie! Hannah, what goes around comes around. One day you will face retribution!"
After dealing Hannah two slaps, Sophie pushed her away and left, holding her head high as she grasped Nicholas Croft’s arm.
"Hannah, what’s wrong? Does it hurt..." Julia Zabinski hurriedly ran over upon hearing the commotion. At this moment, Hannah couldn’t be bothered to feign innocence and spun around, chasing after them to grab Nicholas Croft’s arm. "You cannot leave, Nicholas, you mustn’t go..."
"Panda Eyes!" Sophie shouted downstairs, prompting Little Mei to quickly open the kitchen door. The loyal warrior darted out like an arrow, barking as it charged up the stairs. Hearing Panda Eyes in the upstairs corridor, Hannah screamed and ran back inside, clutching her head.
"Hannah, what’s wrong..." Julia Zabinski rushed after her again, "Dog, get the dog away, ah... don’t bite me..."
Hannah was crouched in the corner, shielding her head.
Sophie Foster sneered coldly, turned around, and left arm in arm with Nicholas Croft.
Upstairs, chaos erupted, while downstairs, Nicholas Croft had already started the engine. Watching the black Maybach start up, Aunt Wang turned around to go upstairs to stop Panda Eyes. "Panda Eyes, stop barking, come back..."
Panda Eyes stood at the stairway entrance, barking a few times inside before turning to dart downstairs when called by Aunt Wang.
At the end of the corridor, Hannah was still crouched there, mumbling continuously, "Don’t bite me..."
"Ah, what kind of misfortune is this?"
Julia Zabinski clapped her thigh, "Get up, Hannah, Sister Wang has already called the dog away,"
That night, Hannah Hargrave had a fever, and she lay on the bed speaking deliriously, "...it wasn’t me, it wasn’t me... Sophie Foster, you took Nicholas away... It’s not my fault..."
Julia Zabinski sat by the bedside, using a damp towel to cool Hannah down, staying until she fell into a deep sleep before getting up.
In the downstairs living room, Julia Zabinski called Aunt Wang over, "Sister Wang, tell me honestly, do you know who Sophie Foster is?"
Aunt Wang’s eyes flickered slightly, she smiled and said, "Madam, these things you should ask your son about. I, as a nanny, wouldn’t know any of this."
"Sister Wang!" Julia Zabinski frowned unhappily, "We’ve been close for so many years, don’t keep me in the dark! That crazy woman’s saying Hannah killed my granddaughter, what’s going on? Could it be Nicholas had another woman outside all along?"
Aunt Wang...
"Madam, please don’t make it difficult for me. I really don’t know anything. If you want to know, shouldn’t you ask your son? There’s no need to press me."
Julia Zabinski could discern Aunt Wang was hinting at something. Her son’s business was doing so well, certainly more than just for a mentally ill woman, her daughter-in-law had previously complained to her about him going abroad for some wild woman...
She raised her hand, "It’s getting late, you should get some rest too. Tomorrow, I’ll ask Nicholas myself."
Sophie Foster’s mind had never been clearer. Just now, she had slapped Hannah twice entirely based on instinct.
She killed her baby and ruined her appearance...
Sophie Foster instinctively raised her hand to touch her face, not looking at Nicholas Croft, she asked facing forward, "Uncle, do you remember how I looked before?"
Nicholas Croft’s tightly pursed lips curved slightly, "I remember, your appearance has been etched into Uncle’s heart long ago."
The braided hair, heavy makeup, mischievous spirit in her gaze...
"Madam, I remember how you looked too. Though you were pretty before, you look even better now." Little Mei leaned over the backrest, not to flatter but to comfort.
"Little Mei, remember, call her Miss from now on," Nicholas Croft reminded through the rear-view mirror, causing Little Mei to nod hastily, "Oh, I understand, there aren’t any outsiders here."
Then she stuck out her tongue and retreated.
Sophie Foster didn’t blame her, instead she stroked her face once more and turned to look at Nicholas Croft, "When will we punish that bitch?"
Nicholas Croft focused intensely forward, his dark eyes squinting, with a bite mark appearing on the sides of his handsome face, "Soon."
"How soon?"
"Do you want her to face social ruin before the legal responsibility or should we let the police take her away now?"
Sophie Foster said through gritted teeth, "I wish she could be torn to pieces, have her life pay for the baby’s!"
"It will happen." Nicholas Croft answered firmly.
After the commotion caused by Julia Zabinski, Sophie Foster seemed to suddenly regain her normal state, her thoughts clear and she no longer rejected Nicholas Croft as she used to, she even asked about his future plans.
Nicholas Croft didn’t specify in detail, but he did promise her that Hannah Hargrave would be brought to justice in the shortest possible time.
The next day, Julia Zabinski went to her son’s company, brought to Nicholas Croft’s office by Assistant Tang.
Julia Zabinski was a straightforward woman. After Assistant Tang left, she wasted no time asking directly, "Nicholas, what did that woman yesterday say about my granddaughter? Is it true you’re having affairs behind Hannah’s back? Don’t act like I don’t know. Hannah already told me you took a wild woman abroad to get treated!"
Julia Zabinski rattled off a barrage of words, surprising Nicholas Croft with how "close" Hannah Hargrave and his mother seemed. If he remembered correctly, he had only returned with Hannah to his hometown once, and it was because she forced him to.
"Mom, what else did she say?" Nicholas Croft put down his work, leaned on his elbows on the desk, drawing closer to his mother.
"Hmpf! What else? If you weren’t guilty, why would others badmouth you behind your back?" Julia Zabinski glared at her son unhappily.
"Mom, I really don’t know what I did wrong, how about you tell me?" Nicholas Croft half-jokingly replied, resting his chin on his crossed hands.
Julia Zabinski gave him another unhappy glare, "Stop fooling around! What’s with Sophie Foster then! Is she another mistress you keep outside?"
Nicholas Croft...
The smile on his handsome face vanished instantly, replaced by a serious demeanor, "Mom, who told you this name?"
