Chapter 915 Sea of Life
Chapter 915 Sea of Life
“Parker, please don’t get agitated. I’m here just to talk to you.” A voice came from the air.
“…” Parker squinted and looked in the direction of the sound.
"Are you a wicked being with intelligence? What do you want with me?" Parker asked calmly.
At this moment, Parker thought to himself that perhaps his recent low mood had attracted the attention of malicious intent. However, Parker wasn't afraid. After all, for malicious intent to harm someone, that person needs to open their mind and body. With his guard up, Parker wasn't afraid of it.
Feng Xue was taken aback; Parker had actually mistaken her for someone with ill intentions. But perhaps this was for the best; after all, this was only the initial contact, and as long as Parker didn't develop any resistance, that was fine.
So Fengxue followed up by asking, "I've heard that you have the ability to control stocks. Is that true?"
“Heh, malice actually gets interested in this kind of thing? I can only predict, not control,” Parker said.
"Oh? Can this precognitive ability be used for other things?" Feng Xue asked further.
"No, it can only predict stocks."
"Ah... that's enough." Feng Xue said, "Are you interested in coming with me? Your talents have already surpassed those of ordinary humans. Do you still consider yourself human?"
A shadow crossed Parker's face as he spoke of this. If someone had said it before, he would have certainly agreed.
After all, his abilities did indeed surpass those of ordinary humans, and after accumulating a fortune of hundreds of millions, he even felt that he and some poor people were no longer of the same species.
But after his debate with Seren, his arrogance was shattered.
“True sages are not like me. I am just a mortal,” Parker said, revealing his inner turmoil.
“You’re so modest,” Fengxue said.
“This isn’t modesty, it’s the truth. I now know the theory of becoming a god, but I can’t achieve it. Isn’t that the greatest irony? I thought I was very smart, but actually I’m deeply poisoned, having lost my original wisdom and instead picked up some insignificant skills,” Parker said helplessly.
"The theory of becoming a god?!" Feng Xue was somewhat shocked. She hadn't expected Parker to know such a thing.
"Um... how do we become gods? Of course, if you don't want to say..." Fengxue's voice trembled slightly.
If anyone else said something like that, she would think they were just being childish. But if someone as intelligent as Parker said it, then it might actually be true.
“Do you want to hear it?” Parker asked.
"Is it okay?" Feng Xue asked cautiously.
"Hehehe~ Nothing is impossible." Parker laughed.
He's been pondering the question of becoming a god for the past few days, and he's come up with many ideas. But there's no one he can share them with.
He originally intended to share these thoughts with Seren, but he already harbored a deep-seated resentment towards Seren. Or perhaps he was too fixated on himself; even if he understood some theories, he didn't want to put them into practice.
Parker needs someone to talk to right now, so he doesn't mind if the other person is malicious.
In fact, malice is better, because no one will believe what malice says. Even if this malice is spread to others later, it won't have any effect on Parker.
So Parker spoke up directly.
"You are a malevolent thought, but have you ever truly understood what you are?"
"I don't know, I was born like this, is there something wrong with it?" Feng Xue began to seriously play the role of evil thoughts.
“Your essence is just a thought,” Parker said.
"A single thought? Isn't that too few? We can think too! Didn't you say we have wisdom?" Feng Xue said guiltily.
She had indeed heard that some intelligent malevolent entities had recently emerged, and that exorcists were meeting to discuss how to deal with this new type of malevolent energy. However, Fengxue wasn't interested in this. She didn't know much about malevolent energy either. She was somewhat afraid of being exposed.
However, Fengxue was clearly overthinking things; Parker didn't notice the problem at all.
"Don't underestimate the power of a single thought. In fact, every person, or rather every living being, has a mind composed of a single thought."
"The reason we feel like we have many thoughts is simply because each thought carries different information. They are essentially the same thought. It's just that this thought appears so quickly..." Parker said with some emotion.
"...How fast?" Fengxue asked curiously.
“I don’t know if you understand physics, but scientists have now discovered the tiny units that make up matter—atoms. Textbooks say that atoms are made up of a nucleus and electrons. And the electrons orbit around the nucleus,” Parker said.
“Hmm…I’ve heard some of it,” Fengxue said.
"But actually, the definition in the textbook is wrong. Electrons don't orbit around the atomic nucleus; they appear and disappear around it. Do you understand what 'appearing and disappearing' means? It means they appear out of thin air and disappear out of thin air. It's just that the probability of them appearing is different in each region."
"The textbook's definition of it as revolving around the atomic nucleus is just a convenient way of putting it," Parker explained.
"Flash, that sounds amazing. So what does it have to do with our thoughts?" Fengxue asked.
"Recently, some scientists have proposed a hypothesis that all the electrons surrounding the atomic nucleus are actually the same electron. It's just that its blinking frequency is so fast that we mistakenly believe that all the electrons surrounding the atomic nucleus are different from the one next to the nucleus."
"And our thoughts flashed by as fast as that electron."
"So each person's mind can be composed of just one thought. It keeps flashing, forming a seemingly coherent mind," Parker said, revealing his idea.
Feng Xue looked somewhat bewildered. She understood what she was hearing, but it still felt very strange.
"To exaggerate a bit, all of our minds are composed of the same thought. We are all interconnected and interdependent."
"That's impossible!" Feng Xue shook her head.
“I couldn’t accept this idea before, but recently I feel that this idea is the truth,” Parker said, getting up and turning on the computer next to him.
“The computer is the greatest invention in the world because it is so much like the human heart. Many of my ideas are inspired by it.” Parker casually opened a webpage.
Current search engines are still very rudimentary, but they are sufficient for most purposes.
“As evil thoughts, you can sense the thoughts of those around you. Don’t you find this mind-reading ability strange? If our thoughts don’t communicate, then why can you read our minds?” Parker asked.
“This…this kind of mind reading isn’t perfect either; it has certain limitations…” Feng Xue said, based on some information she knew.
“Yes, there are limitations, but the underlying logic hasn’t changed. Why can you read minds? Do you have the answer to that question?” Parker laughed.
"No... we are born this way."
"Yes! Because that's how it is. Everyone's thoughts are the same, it's just that they flash by too quickly, and the information they carry is different each time."
"Moreover, this thought has the ability of a search engine, which is quite amazing." Parker typed the word "malicious thought" into the computer's search engine.
The webpage then redirected, revealing a large number of news articles about malicious intent.
"This is the power of the internet, which can search for relevant content based on input. Our hearts also have this power."
"Normally, the thoughts that come to mind are disordered and scattered. But as soon as we become interested in a certain thought, that thought will rapidly expand and begin to generate other similar thoughts. Isn't that just like a search engine?"
"But where do those interconnected thoughts come from?"
“I think it comes from other people’s brains, or from the brains of other creatures,” Parker said.
"Huh?" Feng Xue was completely bewildered; she didn't quite understand this part.
"Did you see these websites one by one? The search engine simply retrieves the content from these websites. It doesn't actually find anything out of thin air."
“Do you understand what I mean?” Parker asked.
“Uh…” Feng Xue didn’t understand.
Parker smiled and then clicked on one of the websites.
"You can think of each website as a living being. And the content on each website is their thoughts."
"But all these websites exist on the internet, which means that as long as we are connected to the network, the data on our computers will be uploaded. When other people want to search for the content they want, they will also use the data on our computers."
"This is the meaning of the Internet: everything is interconnected and everything is shared. And so is our heart."
Feng Xue frowned and thought carefully. She could understand some of it, but she couldn't accept it.
Because if, according to Parker, all life shares a single thought, then there is no distinction between "you" and "me" in this world. But this doesn't quite align with her common sense and experience.
“If we all share the same thought, then why do we differentiate between you and me? Can that thought play both me and you? And why does it do that?” Feng Xue asked.
“That’s the crux of the matter: does the self we perceive truly exist?” Parker sighed.
He just can't get over this hurdle; he's unwilling to admit that his self-image is fake.
"Are you trying to say that your ego is fake?" Feng Xue asked.
"Although I don't want to admit it, I think it is. The ego is an illusion. Because each of us is pieced together from one thought after another."
"Everything we perceive is essentially a patchwork of thoughts."
"Everything we see, hear, smell, taste, or touch can be transformed into thought signals."
"Perhaps nothing exists outside of thoughts."
"You can imagine a tiny thought scanning a human silhouette over and over again at an extremely fast speed. This thought is so fast, it might even be the speed of light, or faster than the speed of light."
"It's like a rapidly spinning electric fan. It spins so fast that the blades become one piece. When you try to touch it, you can't find the gaps between the blades."
"The same goes for that thought; it forms a human-shaped outline, but it moves much faster than a fan, so when we touch that outline, it feels real."
"But in reality, this outline is fake. The only thing that truly exists is that thought."
"That thought doesn't just make up a person; it makes up everything in the universe."
"When we interact with the so-called environment, that thought will be transformed into a corresponding thought signal with different information attached, depending on the current environment."
“These thoughts have subtle differences in information, and we categorize them into what we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch based on these subtle differences.”
"And so, a fairly realistic and interactive world was formed."
