Chapter 967 Opening the European Sales Market
Chapter 967 Opening the European Sales Market
Five days after starting medication, Leon underwent an X-ray and blood test. The X-ray showed that Leon's lung infection had basically recovered, and the blood test results were normal, so the medication was discontinued.
That evening, Leon invited Zhang Yunhe to his home, and the couple hosted a banquet for him.
Since Leon had just recovered, he did not drink alcohol. After the meal, Leon invited Zhang Yunhe to his study to discuss the distribution of penicillin.
“Mr. Zhang, being a journalist is my job. I can use my journalistic identity to promote penicillin. I think this should be beneficial for its promotion and sales. I can use the guise of interviews to get close to the heads of major hospitals in Germany and take the opportunity to promote this drug. I think I can gain brand awareness in the shortest amount of time!” Leon said.
After listening, Zhang Yunhe nodded and said, "It seems you've given this matter very careful consideration these past few days at the hospital. That's good. For convenience, I think you should set up a pharmaceutical sales company. I'll only deal with your pharmaceutical company and be responsible for providing you with the goods."
“Every month, I will deliver a batch of medicine to you regularly. Before the goods are handed over, I will inform you of the delivery address and the value of the goods. Each time you receive the goods, you must pay me the full amount for the previous delivery. I will not collect payment for the first delivery; you will pay me the first payment for the second delivery!”
"Given your current domestic situation, I only accept gold, pounds sterling, and dollars!"
Leon thought for a moment and said, "If you only accept gold, pounds, and dollars, my work will be much more complicated. But it doesn't matter. It's just a little more complicated. Although it's difficult to exchange for pounds and dollars, it's easy to exchange for gold. Currently, the German army is all over Europe, so there should be no shortage of gold!"
"Then it's settled. I know you value the spirit of contracts. Once you've registered your company, we'll sign a cooperation agreement!"
Leon acted swiftly, and went to complete the company registration procedures the next morning.
While Zhang Yunhe was at it, he went to the city to rent a warehouse. After completing the rental procedures and paying a year's rent, he bought a large lock and locked the warehouse door.
When he called Leon in the afternoon, Leon told him that the company registration procedures had been completed.
Zhang Yunhe was shocked; he hadn't expected the procedures to be completed so quickly.
“Leon, now that you’ve completed the company registration, you can find a warehouse. I’ll send the first batch of goods over next month, and I’ll contact you to pick them up when they arrive!” he said to Leon over the phone.
Leon agreed: "Yes, Mr. Zhang, I will rent a warehouse for storing the goods within a week and find reliable people to guard it!"
By the time Zhang Yunhe returned to London, exactly one week had passed.
Instead of rushing to Connor in the medical procurement department of the logistics department, he made a phone call first.
"Hello, this is Connor!" came Connor's voice from the phone.
Zhang Yunhe, holding the phone in the public phone booth, said, "Hi, Connor, good afternoon, this is Zhang Yunhe!"
Connor's excitement immediately came through the phone: "Oh God, Mr. Zhang, you finally called me! Where are you now? I think we need to meet and talk things over!"
“There’s a nice café about 100 meters east of the Shakespeare Theatre. How about we meet there?” Zhang Yunhe asked.
"Okay, I'll head over there right now!"
After hanging up the phone, Zhang Yunhe left the public phone booth, crossed the street, and headed to the coffee shop across the street.
"Ding-dong, ding-dong," the wind chimes on the door curtain rang as Zhang Yunhe entered the coffee shop.
The café server immediately came over: "Good afternoon, sir. How can I help you?"
"Give me a pot of coffee, please. Use the best coffee beans from your shop, hand-ground, and brewed with an alcohol lamp!" Zhang Yunhe said after looking around the coffee shop's layout.
There weren't many customers in the café at that time; there were only seven.
The waiter asked in surprise, "Are you sure it's one pot?"
“Of course, because I have a friend coming over!” Zhang Yunhe said.
"Okay, sir, please wait a moment!" The waiter said and turned to leave.
Connor arrived quickly, before the waiter even brought the coffee.
"You've arrived quite quickly, Mr. Connor. It's a pleasure to see you again!" Zhang Yunhe stood up and shook hands with Connor.
“I’m also very happy to see you. I hope I haven’t kept you waiting long?” Connor asked.
"No, I just arrived recently. Please have a seat. I've already asked the waiter to prepare coffee!"
At Zhang Yunhe's invitation, Connor took off his top hat, placed it on the table, and sat down opposite him.
“Mr. Connor, it’s been a week since we last met. I wonder how effective the medications I gave you have been for the patients?” Zhang Yunhe asked.
Connor said excitedly, "Very good! Ten boxes of medicine treated ten patients, including six wounded soldiers, two pneumonia patients, and two urinary tract infection patients. So far, they have all recovered!"
After chatting for a while, the waiter brought over a pot of steaming coffee. Zhang Yunhe took two cups, poured the coffee, and placed one in front of Connor, saying, "Here are sugar cubes; please add them if you wish."
"Thank you!"
Connor used tongs to put a piece of sugar into his coffee, then slowly stirred it with a spoon. As he stirred, he asked, "I've heard that penicillin can cause allergic reactions in a small percentage of people. The ten boxes of medicine you gave me treated ten patients, and none of them had an allergic reaction. Why is that?"
After taking a sip of coffee and putting down his cup, Zhang Yunhe said, "There are two possibilities: First, the penicillin produced by our pharmaceutical company has a very high purity; second, these 10 patients are not allergic!"
Connor was surprised: "Purity can also cause allergies?"
"Of course, the higher the purity, the lower the chance of an allergic reaction, and vice versa! In fact, very few people are truly allergic to penicillin; many people who appear to be allergic are just faking it."
Connor nodded and asked, "As we discussed last time, when can you deliver the first batch of goods?"
Zhang Yunhe said, "It can be delivered by the end of this month. I will call you then. However, the transaction must be in cash. Gold, British pounds, and US dollars can all be used as the transaction currency!"
Connor considered it for a moment and agreed: "Okay, we'll use pounds as the settlement currency, but we need to sign a formal commercial purchase contract. Only then can the money be credited to our account!"
