Slayer: Look directly at the Seraph, standing on the sun

Chapter 756 Mai

Chapter 756 Mai

Mabui searched along the streets, knowing Killer Bee's personality well; this Eight-Tails Jinchuriki always liked to create his "art" freely in secluded places. Sure enough, she found Killer Bee in a grove of trees on the edge of the village. He was sitting cross-legged under a tree, muttering to himself, waving a pen in his hand, doodling in a thick notebook, clearly creating new lyrics for his rap.

"Kirabi." Mabui's cold voice rang out, interrupting Kirabi's creation.

Kirabi suddenly looked up and saw Mabui, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "Yo! Mabui, you're still here? What a miracle, you idiot!" He instinctively wanted to break into an impromptu rap, but seeing Mabui's serious expression, he swallowed the rest of the words back.

Mabuyi walked up to him and asked bluntly, "How much do you know about Baiyun?"

Killer Bee scratched the back of his head, a thoughtful expression on his face. He rested his chin on his hand, trying to recall his previous interactions with Zhang Hai and his impressions of him. After a long pause, he finally blurted out, "His swordsmanship is amazing, you idiot!"

Mabui's lips twitched slightly. She asked in confusion, "That's it?" What kind of intelligence is this? Could someone who can infiltrate Kumogakure and thrive in Konoha be merely "skilled in swordsmanship"?

Kirabi nodded firmly and said seriously, "Yeah! That's it, you idiot! His swordsmanship is like lightning in a storm, so fast that you can't even blink, and it's also very accurate, like a sniper, you idiot!" He tried to describe it in a rap style, but Mabui was no longer in the mood to listen.

Mabui slapped her forehead in exasperation, utterly despairing of Killer Bee's "intelligence-gathering abilities." She took a deep breath to calm herself, then urged sternly, "Alright, Killer Bee, stop fooling around. Go back to the village right now; Lord Raikage is waiting for you. You should know what the consequences are of making Lord Raikage anxious."

Mentioning the Raikage, Killer Bee finally toned down his usual carefree attitude. He sighed, a clear reluctance in his eyes. "Alright, alright, what a spoilsport, you idiot! I wanted to spar with Hakuyun a few more times, my inspiration was practically bursting forth, you idiot!"

Seeing that he was still dawdling, Mabuyi's eyes instantly turned cold. "Go!" she snapped.

As soon as the words left his mouth, more than a dozen figures flew out from the depths of the dense forest like phantoms, instantly forming a semi-circle around Killer Bee and Mabui. These were elite ANBU members of Kumogakure, dressed in uniform black outfits, wearing various animal masks, and exuding a chilling killing intent. Their movements were perfectly synchronized, and their presence was concealed, clearly indicating that they had been lying in wait under Mabui's orders.

Mabui pointed to two of the secret agents, his tone leaving no room for doubt: "You two, take Kirabi back to the village, and don't let anything go wrong. The rest of you, continue to lie low. Don't come out without my orders."

"Yes!" a dozen or so members of the secret service responded in unison, their voices deep and powerful.

The two designated ANBU members approached Killer Bee, swiftly and decisively taking his arms. Though somewhat reluctant, Killer Bee had no choice but to comply under Mabui's cold gaze. In the blink of an eye, the two ANBU members, carrying Killer Bee, vanished into the depths of the forest as blurry afterimages. The remaining ANBU members disappeared back into the darkness, as if they had never been there, and the dense forest returned to its initial silence.

Only after seeing that Kirabi had completely left did Mabui finally breathe a sigh of relief. A scroll appeared in her slender hand, her ever-present intelligence-recording tool. She skillfully unrolled the scroll, took out pen and ink, and meticulously recorded even the most insignificant information she had just obtained from Kirabi and from her conversation with Zhang Hai.

Although Killer Bee's information was almost negligible, Zhang Hai's attitude, his persuasive words, and his understanding of Konoha made Mabui feel that staying was not meaningless. She believed that even if Baiyun didn't return to the village with her two days later, she could still obtain more information about Konoha from him, and even clues about his own abilities.

The night was as dark as ink, shrouding Konoha Village in a deep silence. Mabui sat alone in her room within the barrier, the flickering candlelight illuminating her cool, aloof face. A scroll lay open on the table, densely covered with the information gathered that day.

On this day, Zhang Hai displayed unprecedented "gentlemanly conduct." Not only did he refrain from any further inappropriate behavior, but he also took meticulous care of Mabuyi. From delivering her three meals a day on time to providing detailed explanations of the village's scenery, he even specially performed a superb swordsmanship demonstration for her. The sword flashed like snow, so fast it was dazzling, each swing containing extreme power and precision, leaving Mabuyi secretly in awe.

However, this "attentiveness" did not put Mabuyi at ease; instead, it intensified her unease. She felt that Zhang Hai was like a highly skilled spider, and she was a moth that had unknowingly stumbled into his meticulously woven web. The more considerate and harmless he appeared, the more wary she became, sensing a deeper purpose hidden behind his gentle smile. This inexplicable feeling, like a fine thread, coiled around her heart, making it difficult for her to sleep.

Despite this, Mabui was not distracted. She made full use of the day to glean a great deal of valuable information from Zhang Hai. She skillfully steered the conversation, seemingly casually mentioning various affairs of Konoha. Zhang Hai did not hide anything, and even proactively brought up some details she hadn't asked about.

Of all the information, what concerned Mabui the most was the details about the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. Zhang Hai not only accurately stated Kushina's identity, but also seemed to know everything about her habits and personality traits. This information perfectly matched the information Mabui had previously gathered within the village through other channels, without the slightest discrepancy. This gave her a more direct understanding of Zhang Hai's intelligence network and further convinced her that Zhang Hai truly had no loyalty to Konoha. A ninja loyal to Konoha would never so easily leak village secrets, especially core information about the Jinchuriki.

What surprised and delighted Mabui even more was that Zhang Hai inadvertently revealed Kushina's romantic relationship with Minato Namikaze when discussing her. This was quite a discovery! The Fourth Hokage's personal relationships, especially those involving the selection of his future wife, were undoubtedly extremely important intelligence.
