Chapter 578 Flying Puppet?
Chapter 578 Flying Puppet?
Scorpion seemed to sense Zhang Hai's change in mood. He tilted his head, his delicate eyes filled with innocence and tenderness. "Big brother, what do you need Grandpa Hai for? Grandpa Hai always praises you for being so amazing!"
Zhang Hai forced a smile and casually said, "Oh, I just want to create a flying puppet, so I came to ask Grandpa Hai for advice." He thought to himself that he could only wait until the war subsided and Grandpa Hai returned before making a decision.
"A flying puppet?" Upon hearing this, Scorpion's previously low spirits instantly lifted. He puffed out his little chest proudly, his youthful face beaming with arrogance. "I can make flying puppets!"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hai was completely stunned. He looked at the six-year-old child in front of him in astonishment, his heart filled with shock. This child could actually create flying puppets?
To prove his point, Scorpion grabbed Zhang Hai's hand and jogged to a small room next door. The room looked like his private studio, with several exquisitely crafted small and cute puppets on the windowsill, including birds, fish, and even a miniature scorpion.
Scorpion picked up one of the small bird-shaped puppets and showed it to Zhang Hai. The puppet was incredibly lifelike, with clearly visible feathers. Then, he pressed a part of the bird puppet. The bird's wings began to flap, and although not fast, it gracefully flew from Scorpion's palm, circling once in the room. Although it quickly lost momentum and fell to the ground, this was enough to amaze Zhang Hai.
Zhang Hai picked up the small bird puppet and carefully examined its internal structure. Although it was just a small puppet, its ingenious internal design was enough to prove that Scorpion could indeed create flying puppets. His eyes were filled with incredulous admiration as he looked at Scorpion. This child… is simply a genius!
The thought of leaving vanished instantly. Zhang Hai put on his familiar smile again and praised Scorpion, "Scorpion, you're amazing!" He then extended an invitation, his eyes gleaming with excitement, "Why don't we work together to research and create an even bigger flying puppet!"
Creating puppets certainly requires talent, especially in the field of flying puppets. The puppets that Kankuro later manipulated were seen by many as nothing more than "junk toys" that Sasori had played with as a child, which is enough to demonstrate Sasori's extraordinary talent in puppetry.
With his knowledge of "modern industry," Zhang Hai possessed a forward-thinking understanding of various mechanical principles and structures. In terms of imagination, he was arguably the best in the Naruto world. While Sasori was still young, his hands-on skills were exceptional, and his understanding of puppet making far surpassed that of his peers. The two discussed and collaborated, one providing ideas and theory, the other handling the practical work. Within just a few days, they became inseparable friends. At least, that's how Sasori felt; he thought his grandfather Zhang Hai had taken on a great student, finally someone to study puppets with.
However, in the shadows, two figures were watching Zhang Hai and Xie.
"It's really rare that this kid has managed to find friends who are willing to spend a lot of time with him." A male voice said with a hint of surprise and relief.
“That kid named Kuotu is really good. He treats Scorpion like a peer, instead of distancing himself from Scorpion like the others do because of Scorpion’s talent.” Another female voice said gently, “Although Scorpion is mature in his thinking, he is still a child after all, and sometimes he is a bit clingy to us.”
After a moment's thought, the male voice suggested, "Should we step in and help them? I'd love to see them create flying puppets."
The female voice shook her head and softly suggested, "Let's wait. The joy of this kind of research is something others can't understand. It's not too late for us to act when Scorpion makes the request."
After the man agreed, the two quickly left.
After the two left, Zhang Hai immediately sensed their departure. He had always known that someone was observing him and Scorpion from the shadows. Therefore, he had been extremely cautious these past few days, afraid of revealing any flaws and exposing his true identity. He secretly speculated that Scorpion might not be simple either, because the two people in the shadows had put a lot of pressure on him, and their strength was certainly not weak. For them to pay such attention to him, and even conceal their presence to the point that he couldn't fully detect them, these two were definitely powerful, and their focus was clearly on this red-haired boy named Scorpion.
Just as Zhang Hai was lost in thought, Scorpion suddenly raised his head, his clear eyes looking at Zhang Hai, his voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible sadness and confusion.
"My parents... are gone."
"How...how did you know?" Zhang Hai asked, puzzled. He didn't know how Scorpion had sensed his parents' departure. He hadn't seen anyone come or go, and Ebizo hadn't mentioned it either.
Scorpion's face held a touch of childlike innocence. He looked up at Zhang Hai and explained earnestly, "I'm very sensitive to my parents' presence. I can sense them whenever they're nearby." He paused, a hint of barely perceptible sadness in his voice, "Now, I can't sense them anymore."
Zhang Hai's heart stirred, interpreting it as the special bond between family members. He thought of his parents, of that hazy yet warm memory. However, he had to shake his head and whisper, "I can't understand this feeling." He couldn't tell Scorpion about his past, nor could he tell him that he hadn't felt that kind of kinship in a long time.
To distract Scorpion, Zhang Hai pointed to several sketches of puppet designs he had casually drawn on the ground. They contained all sorts of bizarre patterns, including birds and beasts, as well as some science fiction designs that were completely out of step with the ninja world.
“Scorpion, look,” Zhang Hai said, pointing to the design drafts. “Which of these do you think is the easiest to successfully fly?”
Sasori walked over curiously, squatted down, and picked up a drawing to examine it closely. His gaze finally fell on a piece of paper with a strange metallic humanoid pattern drawn on it. The pattern was full of power and mechanical aesthetics, which seemed out of place in the Naruto world.
"This one!" Scorpion pointed at the picture and said in a childish voice, "This one with the 'Transformers' pattern looks the hardest to fly!" His eyes gleamed with excitement, his desire for the challenge overflowing. He turned to Zhang Hai and asked, "Big brother, does this thing have a name?"
Zhang Hai was secretly pleased; he hadn't expected Scorpion to be interested in this. "Yes, that design is called 'Transformers'," he said casually.
