Chapter 590 Tsunade-sama
Chapter 590 Tsunade-sama
After Tsunade finished laughing heartlessly, her tone carried a hint of disdain: "Don't tell anyone I taught you. I've never seen anyone as stupid as you, ruining your arm with medical ninjutsu."
While performing the treatment, Zhang Hai explained, "Lady Tsunade, I'm just showing you a possibility for the future of medical ninjas!"
Tsunade nodded in agreement. She looked at Zhang Hai intently, her eyes gleaming with thoughtful consideration. "This is indeed a possible approach," she mused, "but it requires long-term experimentation to confirm its feasibility before it can be widely adopted."
"Then use me as the experiment!" Zhang Hai volunteered, his Sharingan eyes, though he didn't realize it, were gleaming with eager anticipation.
Tsunade said with some disdain, "Use you? With your skinny arms and legs, you're not worth experimenting on!" She felt somewhat helpless about Zhang Hai's "volunteer" behavior.
Zhang Hai dared not refute, but silently sped up the treatment. Soon, his arm recovered completely.
After a moment of contemplation, Tsunade's gaze fell on Zhang Hai again, and her tone became serious: "Try it on me."
Zhang Hai asked in surprise, "Seriously?" He hadn't expected Tsunade to make such a request.
"Come on," Tsunade urged, her tone carrying an unquestionable command.
Zhang Hai didn't refuse; he knew it was a sign of Tsunade's trust in him. He reached out, gathered chakra, and gently traced a line on the artery in Tsunade's arm.
Tsunade tried to raise her arm, but couldn't muster any strength; even moving her arm was extremely difficult. It seemed that Zhang Hai's injury was quite severe, precisely severing the artery in her arm, instantly causing poor blood flow and a complete loss of strength in her arm.
Tsunade began treating the wound on her arm with her other hand. Her medical chakra, like a green light, rapidly repaired the severed artery. Soon, her arm was completely healed, showing no signs of having been injured.
Tsunade was secretly delighted. She realized that this was simply because she, as a fellow medical ninja, knew how to heal and restore. If it were an ordinary ninja, that single blow would have been enough to instantly disable their hand seals, or even render them incapable of fighting for an extended period. She couldn't help but marvel at how surprisingly effective medical ninjutsu was in combat!
Just as Tsunade was celebrating, Zhang Hai fell into deep thought. Although his experiment had been successful, he quickly realized the limitations of the chakra scalpel in actual combat. The chakra scalpel was indeed useful in close combat, but it required a certain level of taijutsu skill, and most importantly, it required close-quarters fighting. On the battlefield, however, ninjas would typically unleash ninjutsu bombardments from hundreds of meters away, leaving no opportunity for close-quarters combat.
Seeing Zhang Hai's serious expression, Tsunade asked, "What's wrong? Do you feel something's not right?"
Zhang Hai thought for a moment and replied, "It's still a bit lacking in practicality." He was referring to the limitations of close combat. But then he had a sudden inspiration and added, "However, Lady Tsunade, it's not like there's no way to solve this."
Having experienced war, Tsunade also considered the limitation of the chakra scalpel being only effective in close combat. Hearing that Zhang Hai had a solution, she was quite surprised and asked, "Oh? Really? Tell me about it."
Zhang Hai reminded Tsunade, "Think about Hanzo."
Tsunade immediately understood, a glint of light flashing in her eyes, and asked, "You mean... poison?"
Zhang Hai answered affirmatively, "Yes."
Zhang Hai nodded firmly, his eyes gleaming with wisdom. "Yes, Lady Tsunade. Medical ninjas have a natural advantage in the use of poison. We don't need to get close; we can simply turn the poison into gas and launch an attack from a distance with very little chakra, killing enemies over a wide area."
He pointed out the only drawback of this method: "Of course, the only drawback of this method is that it is vulnerable to ninjas who are proficient in Wind Release. However, there are relatively few Wind Release ninjas."
Tsunade agreed, nodding and pondering, "There aren't many Wind Release ninjas. This line of thinking is correct." She then raised a new question: "But we need to consider which poison is more stable and can be mass-produced into poison gas? And how to store this poison gas?"
Zhang Hai stretched lazily, looking relaxed, and said, "Lady Tsunade, these are all issues you need to consider. That's all I can think of." He chuckled, trying to brush it off.
Tsunade rolled her eyes at Zhang Hai, then tapped him on the head: "You brat, don't try to slack off! Since you learned about poison in Sunagakure, you should study it with me!"
Zhang Hai was drafted without exception. In the following days, the room in Tsunade's research lab was filled with test tubes containing various colorful toxins, and the air was filled with strange smells.
As Tsunade's research progressed, poisonous gas occasionally drifted out of the test tubes. Zhang Hai inadvertently inhaled a strange poisonous gas, and immediately felt his face turn black, had difficulty breathing, felt dizzy and lightheaded, and became drowsy.
Seeing that Tsunade was completely obsessed with researching poisons and didn't care about his own life or death, he cried out in despair, "Hey! Lady Tsunade! Help!"
Upon noticing this, Tsunade's lips curled into a mischievous smile as she calmly said, "It's just a little poison gas; you won't die. Figure it out yourself."
Zhang Hai's heart sank. He cursed Tsunade inwardly, feeling that this couldn't go on and worried that she might one day kill him. His mind raced, and he finally came up with a desperate, albeit desperate, solution.
Zhang Hai cautiously approached, fawningly saying to Tsunade, "Lady Tsunade, I've heard... your summoned beasts can save people, is that true?"
Tsunade looked at Zhang Hai with disdain, a hint of contempt in her eyes. "Yeah, what do you want?"
Zhang Hai said somewhat embarrassedly, "I don't have a spirit beast yet."
Upon hearing this, Tsunade's eyes widened, and she was both amused and annoyed. "You brat! You want to mess with my summoning beast? You've got some nerve!"
Zhang Hai explained logically, "Researching toxins isn't something that can be done in a day or two, and I'd like to do my part. But I can't keep having you save me all the time; that would really slow down the research!"
Tsunade thought Zhang Hai's words made some sense. After a moment's hesitation, she still gave a heads-up, saying, "Are you sure you want to choose my summoning beast? Its attack power is quite average."
Upon hearing that Tsunade had relented, Zhang Hai immediately assured her confidently, "It doesn't need any offensive power! It's good enough if it can save lives! If it encounters an enemy, I'll just go in and chop them down with one strike!"
Tsunade felt something was off. The Uchiha clan choosing a slug as their summoning beast felt strange.
