Chapter 589 Exposed
Chapter 589 Exposed
He explained, "Lady Tsunade, I'm not from Sunagakure; I'm an outsider. It was already very difficult for me to obtain these two bottles of poison." Of course, he couldn't reveal his true identity in Sunagakure, much less expose Sasori's existence.
Although Tsunade was somewhat disappointed, she also felt that Zhang Hai's words made sense. She then asked Zhang Hai, "What are your thoughts on the level of poison production in Sunagakure?"
Zhang Hai pondered for a moment before answering seriously, "The poison-making skills of Sunagakure are only average. They mostly use local materials and haven't systematically studied and learned about it. Poisons are mostly used in conjunction with puppetry techniques, making them difficult to popularize." He paused, then added, "However, those few highly toxic drugs are still stronger than Hanzo's poison in terms of toxicity."
Tsunade agreed with Zhang Hai's statement. She nodded, her tone becoming serious: "In that case, we need to create several antidotes specifically for the poisons of Sunagakure!" With that, she began her frantic research again. Zhang Hai guessed that she was doing this perhaps to temporarily forget the pain of losing her younger brother through this intense study.
Zhang Hai felt it was difficult for him to truly empathize with Tsunade's pain, because he was all alone and had no ties to her. All he could do was silently stay by her side, assist her, and help her with her research.
As dawn broke, Tsunade slumped wearily at the table, surrounded by reagents and notes, clearly having worked through the night. Zhang Hai, on the other hand, looked refreshed and full of energy, the night's rest leaving him brimming with vitality.
Zhang Hai grabbed a blanket and gently covered Tsunade with it. He tiptoed out, not wanting to disturb Tsunade.
However, just as he reached the door, a voice suddenly rang out, sounding hoarse and weary: "Where are you going?"
Zhang Hai froze. He turned around, then put on a bright smile and explained, "It's already dawn. I was worried that Lady Tsunade would be hungry, so I'm going out to get some breakfast so we can eat together."
Upon hearing Zhang Hai's words, Tsunade suddenly realized that her stomach was empty, and a wave of hunger washed over her. She then realized that she had not eaten since receiving the devastating news of her brother's death, and felt weak all over, with her vision even blurring.
Seeing Tsunade sway slightly, Zhang Hai quickly stepped forward to support her arm and said with concern, "Lady Tsunade, are you alright? Please wait here for me, I'll go prepare breakfast. What would you like to eat?"
Tsunade slapped Zhang Hai's hand away, forcing herself to stand up straight, her tone tinged with displeasure: "I don't need your help, you little brat!" She then reverted to her "strict teacher" demeanor, "After breakfast, we'll continue studying today!"
The two arrived at a breakfast shop, where Zhang Hai excitedly ordered a large table of steaming hot noodles, the aroma of which whetted their appetites.
Tsunade didn't stand on ceremony, picking up her chopsticks and eating heartily. She was truly starving; her ravenous eating completely lacked her usual aloof Kage-level ninja demeanor. Soon, both of them were full and leaned back contentedly in their chairs.
After a while, Tsunade looked at Zhang Hai strangely and asked, "Why are you still here? Aren't you going to pay the bill?"
Zhang Hai yawned lazily and answered matter-of-factly, "I have no money." He pointed at Tsunade, "I lost all my money to Lady Tsunade."
Tsunade then remembered that she had had incredible luck a couple of days ago, winning a lot of money from Zhang Hai. She glared at Zhang Hai, annoyed, "You don't have any money and you still ordered so much? Didn't you say you'd treat me to breakfast?"
Zhang Hai replied with a smile, "Yes, it's my treat, you pay."
Tsunade's forehead veins bulged, and she seemed about to make a move. Seeing this, Zhang Hai quickly added, "Consider this a debt I owe Lady Tsunade. I'll pay you back as soon as I have the money!"
Tsunade didn't bother with such a small amount of money. She snorted, reluctantly got up, and paid the bill herself.
Zhang Hai followed Tsunade with a grin, and they went to the hospital together.
After another busy day, Zhang Hai was so exhausted that he slumped into a chair, unable to contain his aversion to looking unkempt. He couldn't help but sigh, "Lady Tsunade, I think you're absolutely right. Without a proper medical system, the ninjas in the hospital alone would work everyone to death."
Tsunade's eyes dimmed with sadness upon hearing Zhang Hai's words. Her younger brother Nawaki's smiling face flashed through her mind again. She thought to herself, if there had been a medical ninja in her brother's team who could have provided emergency treatment and held on until she arrived, perhaps her brother wouldn't have died… She clenched her fist tightly.
Seeing that Tsunade remained silent, Zhang Hai continued his analysis: "Actually, the Third Hokage knew that what you said was true, but just as he said, he no longer had any extra ninjas to learn medical ninjutsu. After all, it is a time of war, and every bit of combat power is precious."
Zhang Hai continued, "Furthermore, Lady Tsunade, think about it. After the teams are divided into four-person squads, if a squad has a medical ninja, there will be a difference in combat power when facing other squads without a medical ninja. After all, not every medical ninja has the combat power of Lady Tsunade. So, there are advantages and disadvantages."
Tsunade clearly hadn't expected the boy in front of her to think so deeply, and couldn't help but ask him, "Then what do you think is the best way to solve this problem?"
Zhang Hai already had an idea in mind. He had vaguely considered this while learning medical ninjutsu. Seeing Tsunade ask about it, he immediately said, "Develop a combat system unique to medical ninjas!"
He further explained, "Actually, Lady Tsunade, you see, this chakra scalpel can be used to save lives, but it can also kill."
Without the slightest hesitation, Zhang Hai extended his left arm and channeled his chakra. Under his precise control, the chakra scalpel in his hand made a gentle incision on his left arm. There was no blood, no external injury, but his entire arm drooped limply, as if it had lost its support. Clearly, the meridians within had been severed instantly by the chakra scalpel.
"Hiss..." Zhang Hai gasped as he self-harmed, his face contorted in pain, but his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Such a fast blade!" he exclaimed, quickly channeling his medical chakra to begin healing himself.
Upon seeing this, Tsunade couldn't help but laugh. The gloom that had hung over her face because of her brother's death finally dissipated somewhat. Zhang Hai's act of "self-harm for the sake of experiments" made her feel both amused and a little heartbroken.
